I have a co-worker that told me she has 25 rolls of wheat cents and asked if I would like to buy them. She said that she has been separating the wheat cents in her change for 20 years and some came from her father! I told her I would give her a nickel a piece, sight unseen. I'm I being fair with her and if not what would be a fair price for sight unseen? I certainly want to be fair with her!
I agree with Green18 & TheCoinGeezer. You made a generous offer. They are probably worth less than 5-cents each. However.......... If you calculate all the hours of fun you have looking through them (at say $10 per hour), I think you owe your co-worker another $100.
A pretty fair price, the coin store by me sells wheat pennies 5 cents each. And they're not even rolled.
This ages me (doesn't everything), but when I was a teen in the late 50's, i mentioned to a family friend I would like some IHC's. He said he saw them in change "all the time" and I offered him a nickle for every one he saved for me. His response a few weeks later was "That's weird, I haven't seen any" and he was sincerely amazed.
