its rough i know. Its limp as a wet noodleand there is a tear dead center on the bottom that goes just above the word washington on his portrait. Just curious as to what others have to say. I got this in change a few years back. Tried a few times to take a clear pic. The series is 1988 A in case you can't see it. Thanks
What makes you think it has value above other $1s? The fact that it's 1988 A? Unless that's in some way rare (I don't collect currency as much so I wouldn't know) it's worth $1.
Take it easy on the newbie, please. It's uncommon to find a series 1988 A in circulation, even if it's not valuable. Sorry, coinhound, but you ought to just spend it. It isn't worth anything over face. Keep your eye out for anything with an interesting serial number and/or errors though, you'd be surprised what you'll find. Keep up your searching
hmm foolish me i thought based on the location of the plate # on the back it was a web fed dollar and that its from the BL block in NY which is very rare... am i wrong???
Sorry if I sounded a little irritable, I can assure you I wasn't . Unfortunately it does not have any value over $1, but like cookiemonster12 said it's very cool to find such an old note in circulation.
I don't know much about paper money, but I know a little about the web notes. I believe it is a web note, and the 1988 A B-L is one of the most desirable. With the tear I'm not too sure about a price. This was the lowest I saw on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KING-Web-No...082?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415fa19872 I don't think $100 is out of the question, but that might be on the high side. Btw, here's a good link for the web notes: http://www.quadrigaancients.com/web/
I was pretty sure i had a good note but i didn't want to put an idea in someones head. I was hoping someone would confirm what i thought with out me saying. Thanks for the back up Raider. And since i got it in change it only cost me a buck to save it.
What's the front and back plate numbers? At first glance the note isn't worth keeping but as raider34 pointed out it may well be worth something.
How could even begin you suggest for him to spend a web note?? Pppshhhh c'mon now these things are getting harder and harder to find... Especially the 1988A series...
The other guys have no clue what they are rambling on about, please disreguard their comments. Your note is a web note. These were printed for Series 1988A, 1993, and 1995. They are beginning to be more uncommon as times goes and this is definetely a nice find that is surely a kepper, especially if you only pad $1 for it... Web notes were $1 FRN's that were printed during the mid to early '90s . Instead of standard 32-subject sheets of $1's being printed, the web $1's were printed on continuous paper, exactly like newspaper is printed, to cut down on costs and make it quicker, because at the time the demand for the $1 FRN was as high as ever. The web test notes failed because the expectations of the BEP were too high and a lot of he web notes came out sloppy. And if your going to spend it PM me to sell it to me at face.
like i have said before too many jump so fast just to type some thing with out thinking i will say yes to tbud keep the note your best bet is too look it up for self find the right web sites and see what you can find out
Uhmmmmm sorry but web notes ARE web notes and there is nothing more to it than that. It's not like an error note that could have been faked. It's clearly a 1988A $1 BL web note. There is no "jumping to fast" on something like this... It is what it is and thats all that it is...
and this is what i mean by not thinking if you look back at the first post they all said to spend it, --- but then t-bud said not too as it is a web note (that is clear) and worth something that is what i meat about jumping fast but maybe he is mad for i said to look it up your self after he said he would buy it for face (sounds like to me some one is trying to rip some one off) and is mad because i said look it up yourself i will not say what it's value is . as i don't get into the small notes but a good firend of mine at the st.aug club dose even has his own book on them i will take this post to him and see what he thinks.
