Red flags....a guy who calls himself "little joker"; lousy pic; very low feedback and sales; accused of not shipping items; probably a hammer job.
Only if: 1. I knew absolutely nothing about coins 2. Really needed to get rid of $700 fast 3. I really needed a Roosevelt dime.... 3. I collected home-made "error" coins AKA problem coins....
Perhaps I would check the sellers feedback and make a decision based on that? Perhaps I would ask for clearer pictures if I were interested in the object.
Hey He needs that money more than we do, he needs tatoos and Twilight collector money BAHAHAHAHAHAH Scammers buy the stupidest things...
I have been communicating with this seller all day and trying to get him to take this junk off ebay. He told me he checked on the internet and found out a coin could not be pushed into another one. here's how to know for sure his coin is a hammer job and may help someone learn. first off the cent would have had to be the first strike because too much of the dimes details is visible. well if so then the cent die would have flared out the dime planchet to exactly cent diameter size. then it would have been impossible for the cent size coin to enter the dime size coining chamber. I recognised this immediately soon as I saw his photo. I told the guy the same thing and all he did was lower his price. I wonder if he is smoking somethin besides tobacco ?
We can stop these crappy sellers and make ebay a better place. all we need to do is buy or win the bid for every altered or damaged coin we see listed as a mint error and forget we bought it . all ebay will do is ask is it ok to cancel the transaction after about a week , then tell them ok. a seller can not leave a buyer a negative but a buyer can leave a seller a negative if they want to. this would stop this nonsense then a really good error coin would sell better without the fakes on there bothering our new collectors.these altered coins are just horrible on ebay and hurts ebay and all of us. go get em.....
you sure are right but it is such a big hassle to collect from paypal or ebay from a raw coin. first you have to have some error experts to confirm the coins is damaged or altered and all kinds of stuff. the worst problem I see is that a beginning error collector will not know they are being robbed until the statute of limitations have run out, or I should have said ebays time limit.
You may be surprised on just how easy it is. All a buyer has to do is file a claim and say it's fake or damaged. eBay doesn't put in much effort unless it's something really high end. Usually they just take the buyer's word for it and play it safe. The worst is when you're shipping to Western Europe and the buyer decides they don't want to pay customs taxes to receive the package. In this case Paypal's policy completely backs up the buyer on the sales price AND shipping fee being refunded.
I thought we lived in a world where you are not guilty of anything until someone proves it.Also how can you make judgement calls on a coin you can only see in a picture?Everyone of us has a right to sell anything we have and its up to us to buy it.If you think and thats the key word think the coin is not what it is you have the right not to buy it but how can you know and prove without it in hand its a fake. The seller of the coin is looking a buyer his feedback is listed for all to see.I for one can make up my own mind without others trying to tell me why i should not buy it.I learned when takeing a stateboard exam its not against the law to charge an outrageous price for my work and no one has to hire me.
