On Saturday I went to one of my good Federal Credit unions and purchased $5.00 worth of member rolls, Only pennies. 4 rolls had tape on the ends... So I sat there looking for anything interesting. Found about 2 rolls of pre 1982 cents. Then came the taped rolls. first one 48 out of 50 were wheats the other ones were IHC 1901 and 1874. In total i found about 3 1/2 rolls of wheats and more copper cents. Monday I go back and ask for the taped rolls so they "don't open up " when i get them from my pocket to the car seat. Lets see if it works.

    Sorry I made a mistake as usual it's 1874 NOT 1877.

WOW!! Congratz! You know that the 1877 IHC is the ultra key, right!? Talk about luck! Could you post a picture of the 1877?

Oh, ok, 1874 is still a good date, in G-4 it's worth around $10.

I've never found an IHC and I'm 48 y.o. I have found lots of silver in the late 70's when it was about 3X face. Very little in the last 5-10 years, but I did get a 1936 quarter in change a few weeks ago.

Well here it is Monday and went to my Federal Credit union and asked for another $5.00 worth of pennies. I also told the teller If they can get them with the tape on the ends.....Well the first two rolls produced (2) 1943 cents, and 4 wheats. The rest of the rolls I found some copper cents but nothing like the other day. I just keep looking. Just wanted to pass this along/

Cool! I have yet to find a steel cent in circulation. What is the condition of them if I may ask?

No don't know how to put a photo on the internet unless one of my adult children help. The zinc coins were about vf. I'm going back on Wednesday to see if I can get anything good this time.

So today it's raining and a real lousy day out. I went to the Federal Credit Union and first tried to dump some pennies, The Machine was being worked on, So I payed a loan today. Came back in a half hour and the machine was still out of order. I purchased $5.00 worth of pennies. Found (1) dime and (3)wheats plus about $2.50 in copper cents. So I guess the first time was a fluke. Oh well. enough said.

A 50% return on copper is still not a bad way to go. The average is around 20% for copper in these rolls. By the way, amazing score on your wheat rolls!
