One more try and then I'm done with this fiasco. I would send it to Matt if I thought it would convince you. I offered to send it to you but right now I think it would be a waste of 44 cents. Here it's in a Capitol Plastics holder.
"We" were trying to be civilized until you came in and put everyone off with your supposed 45 years experience and pompous attitude. Your comments demonstrate you know little about the striking process and how some errors happen and that tells the story right there. This is why I said way before I don't believe a single thing you say, and I hope everyone else sees that egomaniacs have no real concept of honesty in the first place. And I mean that as harshly as possible.
Yeah I'm a machinist, I have a set of mics. Somehow I don't think the brick wall would believe either one of us.
I have no idea of what your problem is . I just wish you would stop trying to beat around the bush trying to make it sound like I'm a liar. I hate all liars and this is something I would never do is to tell someone a lie. yes I have been interested in error coins for at least 45 years and maybe a little longer than that.maybe you are just upset because you made a bad call on someones else's thread a few minutes ago about calling it die wear and the next poster said it no it is rpm2 . I never bothered you so please don't take it out on me. if someone else bothered you go take it out on them.
Then please send your altered coin to Matt. I do believe he is a trustworthy person . I know a honest person from a corrupt one just by how they conduct themselfs. To be honest I truely doubt that Matt will never have your coin in his hands. This would really surprise the heck out of me.
LOL! If you looked at that coin you would notice a light, incuse depression to the left and bottom of the mintmark. That is a clear sign of die wear. Like I said, your comments greatly contrast your "45 years" claim. And the next guy said it's post strike damage, not rpm. Read the words.
I just made a honest mistake and went back and fixed my post right. I meant to say Matt. sorry about the mistake , I never said you was dishonest or corrupt.
Crazy, crazy... I think the OP is only trying to prove something "he" believes in. If he doesn't want to hear others opinions, then let it be. But there is no reason to be a doosh and smack the guy around, acting like you're the king of the hill or "Mr. know it all" for that matter. A thread should NOT die just because you think you're right or because others agree with you. Others have the right to keep giving opinions whether you like it or NOT.
Thanks for trying to come to my rescue if I'm reading your post right. If I had made a post like #62 I would have probably been banned from here instantly and permantely. looks like someone is trying to force the moderators to close this thread like they have already done for a couple of my first two threads that I ever put on here.I am fairley new on this forum and just now trying to learn who everyone is. I'm really not trying to prove anything about this coin , I just put it on here for folks to see.I also like others opinions whether good or bad but I don't like to be called bad names expessially a LIAR. anyones opinion on here is worthless anyway when it comes time to send a coin in for authentication. For this I would have to have papers from someone else other than me.If you don't have authentication papers from a well known expert for a very unusal error or variety it will be sent back listed as damage. I truely like your reply and you are totally correct when you said there is no reason to smack me around and trying to act like king of the hill.
did DT ever send you his homemade coin ? I doubt it and I think I already know what you would easily find wrong with it.a squeeze job or hammer job altered coin is extremely easy to detect if you know what to look for. I could even see it at first glance in his first photo.
Tell ya what rascally old buddy, how about we both send our coins to Matt. Then he can compare them in hand. I offered to send my coin to you. Why didn't you take me up on it? If Matt or anybody else wants to see it they can, just tell me where to send it.
You are the one that offered to send your homemade coin to Matt so why not just go ahead and let him look at it. my coin is going to Wexler if it goes anywhere.I have seen hundreds of the hammer and squeeze jobs and I have never seen one without rim damage the same as your coin has and they are always a little bit wider than normal. this is how you can easily identify the man made ones.
If you read and comprehended Matts post you'll see he offered to measure it for me. I told him I'm a machinist and I can measure it myself. I did and the coin is as round as any other cent. You can choose to believe me or not, I don't really care. I posted clear pics of my coin and put it in a cent holder, as you asked, (which by the way Capitol Plastics holders do not allow much room for the coin to move around in them) to show you that it is indeed round. For the life of me I don't have a clue why you think I would try to mislead anybody or lie about what my coin is. I only made it to show that a squeeze job could be done on a coin that would look very similar to yours. Look at the similiarities of the impressions across the nose, above the eyebrow and the impressions in the cheek on my coin and yours and tell me what's the difference in them (other than the depth). On further thought ,don't tell me cause I won't be listening. I've wasted too much time on this. I got kids I can argue with, they're much more reasonable.
You are the one that went to the trouble to make this altered thing trying to convince me to throw my mint error in the trash . so surely you can understand that I will not believe everything you say and I know you do not believe anything I say. by just looking at your photo anyone can clearly see the sunken in damage on your homemade coin's rim. this alone is enough to know it's a hammer job .also if you will send this thing to Matt I'm about 100% sure he will see that it is pushed out a tiny bit larger in diameter there where you did this damage. where do you think the metal went to when you pressed the coin into the other one? I say send it to Matt .
Well folks after another look at my weird coin and stopping to think about it I'm going to have to say that a lot of us got fooled with this coin, even me. If I was wrong about saying ICG definately got it wrong then I apoligize to them right now. I just didn't think to stop and look at the coin better and this caused a lot of confusion on this forum. If I hurt anyone's feelings then I'm sorry. I knew the coin was a real mint error the minute I first saw it in hand but thought there was no way it could be as labeled by ICG as MAJOR DIE CLASH. well today I took another peek at the coin then it finally came thru my bull head clear as day. Now after all I have said about ICG I'm going to have to backtrack and say they was right and I was wrong. I don't care to admit it when I make a mistake. I have no idea how the folks at ICG figured this one out because it sure as heck took me a long time and usually I can figure out a error coin in a split second..... Mostlikely what has happened to this obv. die that got clashed is the fact that the reverse die was probably warped and worn out. or it was bent in the center or left hand side this would have let these details of the rev. die go up inside of Lincoln's chin. well folks we probably learned a few things with this discussion anyway. I will also add this to my other thread so everyone can find this post. Troy
Well I wish you had stuck to your opinin and beat it into some of our old bull heads. poor old DT THE MENACE banged up his fingers trying to make a altered man made error coin trying to get me to think my coin was one of the altered coins. I have made and seen too many of the altered ones and knew this one was not altered the minute I had it in hand. toned coins I have to say you beat us this time. remember that other really weird cent coin I had on here where everyone talked so bad to me about it?? Well i still have a strong gut feeling that it real also and I'm going to try to get someone else besides me to check it out. this coin on this thread shows how so many experts are so quick to pull the trigger on a good coin. I have seen them do it over and over. a few bad calls is not very bad but too many bad calls are made every day. I admit I also have made my share of them . we need to be able to learn from our own mistakes.
