No, eBay, I don't want to use your stupid catalog

Is anyone else who sells coins on eBay as frustrated as I am about this new "feature" they added sometime in the last month, where for every single coin you try to list, it asks you if you want to search for a description in their catalog? While this is useful for items like books and CDs, it has absolutely no use with coins and is just a waste of time, yet this pops up on every single coin I try to list, adding an extra step that really adds up if I'm listing a lot of items. And it will continue to pop up each time you relist the coin if it doesn't sell. I have noticed it doesn't ask with Canadian coins, so maybe those of you who sell U.S. coins don't see it either, but I'm selling world coins and it's driving me crazy.

Had this happen to me as well. What's also getting on my nerves are all of the 'Free No-Reserve Listings on XX/XX/XXXX' notifications... I've received one nearly everyother day for a month. They've become so frequent that I only check my notifications when I have an auction running.

eBay, I understand you are trying to be generous providing me with "List-4-Free" days, but I don't list as often as you may think! :rollling:

Yea I noticed it as well, it's especially annoying when changing specific categories between listings.
eBay has made a few annoying changes lately. Those list for free days are cool for those who use them. However, if you are searching through coins that day you will find it causes a huge flood that is quite a task to get through.

Actually these free listings have become what my week revolves around. Tuesdays are now eBay days for me. When you are listing coins that sell for a buck like I do, you can't afford listing fees, so these promotions make it possible for me to sell. I think they're obviously testing different things to see what works, so I hope they decide they should just stop charging listing fees eventually. That doesn't seem likely, but if they find that a lot more people are listing items then they'll make more in other fees than they would on listing fees.

I looked at that and it seems like it's going to charge me either 25 or 50 cents each for it. Maybe if you're a powerseller you get it free, but for me it's not an option.

I think they'll eventually eliminate listing fees all together. When you're one of those "once-a-month" listers like myself, frequent messages like these do become repetitive and somewhat annoying. I understand in your situation this is not at all the case... If I was in your shoes, I'd feel the exact same way. :)

When using TL the free part doesn't show until everything is processed. At first it just shows the regular listing fee....but they take the fees out at the end.

I just skimmed through the other posts, so maybe someone has already suggested this, but why don't you submit a suggestion to eBay that they provide you with an "Opt out" radio button for this feature similar to an "Unsubscribe"? It could be provided as part of your profile, so you wouldn't have to enable it with every listing.

Brian, if you are getting annoying messages from eBay, you should change your contact preferences. One thing eBay does well is its email opt-out settings. You can turn off getting notifications for a lot of different things. I now only get emails for things I need to act on, and it saves me a lot of frustration.

Basic turbo lister has always been free and never added anything to the feees for me. And I've been putting up about ten items per day for awhile. I've used it for years even before I got Power seller. BTW still run into that if I relist from eBay home page but not from lister.

I tried using Turbo lister but it ended up shrinking all my photos to a much smaller size. I like posting huge up-close photos of my coins and believe it keeps my returns down to a minimum. So is there a setting on Turbo that will stop this shrinkage? So far the only way I can keep the photos large is by doing all the listing one at a time.
