For those of you who are still on the waiting list but haven't received a confirmation one way or another............................. I don't want to be the one to throw a fly into the ointment, but there is one thing the Mint isn't telling you. When they say that there may be some unexpected cancellations, they aren't telling you that this also includes returns that were opened and the buyer was dissatisfied with a coin or coins because there were one or more flaws. Of course, the Mint doesn't withdraw these sets. They just ship them off to the next person on the list. This same thing happened with the 20th Anniversary Sets, and there were "Letters to the Editor" of Coin World validating this practice. The only thing I hope is that none of you receive such sets. It would be bad enough that you got them with no intention of submitting them for grading, but if you want them all graded with the 25th Anniversary label, you will have no choice but to submit the unopened shipping containers (without prior examination) and you might be in for a big disappointment. I just hope that I'm wrong. Chris
i would not think they will have any returns to work with but that my opinion who would return these?
Like I said above............people who were dissatisfied because a coin(s) contained one or more flaws. It certainly wouldn't be the first time coins left the Mint with imperfections and that includes proof and/or others with special handling. Chris
Look for fingerprints on the sleeve, or do you think the Mint would repackage them in new materials? (Probably not into a new box, though). My set arrived this morning. I've decided to wait until Xmas to open the box (after this post, now I'm not so sure, but I didn't plan on grading them, anyways). Oh well, at least there isn't any rattling what so ever, the package is very sound.
