This is a 1/3 Mohur or 5 Rupees coin from East India company. I sold it recently but posting it on here anyways.
Here's mine: I will be posting more British Indian coins on my albums page very soon. Here's the link: http://www.cointalk.com/members/jlb...tain-british-isles-territories-commonwealths/
tonk coin nice - available in india for $2-$3. you did good though its a nice piece. dont get confused by ebay prices no one in their right minds buys coins from ebay for those prices. most of your pieces that i have quoted above are very nice.. remember most good indian dealers dont sell online let alone on ebay in india so stick to usa and you will do fine.
yo collect, where did you buy the RBI tiger coin from? your post said dealer but there was no info. pm me the dealers name if you can. we dont want to make anyone famous here
The coin just didn't make the cut. It did not have the eye appeal to make me want to keep it. The person who bought it from me sent it in for grading and it has a AU 58 on it from NGC. I thought it would only be details graded and maybe make a EF 45 but it made a 58. I am very surprised!!
Spock1K! You gotta hook me up with one of your dealers Would love to get my hands on some lovely Uncs without burning a hole in my wallet!
sure i can as soon as you give me your collection for Christmas no seriously on your next trip to india just go to a coin fair and look around. ebay prices are just plain NRI prices where even a mango can get you 50 bucks.
why we all know NGC and PCGS cant grade indian coins. **** they dont know how to distinguish between a PF and unc. When i used to use them i had to write pages of explanation so they would attribute the coin correctly. Their source material KM is also deeply flawed. The only good thing is the sonically sealed holders helps preserve the coin. You should be happy that NGC didnt give it a 65. if you had waited another 5 years you would have got a 65. some of the 65 they have given out recently will make you go blind. remember most british indian coins are very very easily available they were produced in crores dont get caught in the hype buy only choice coins and forget what the tpg says
