Oh no. This is truly a sad moment. He was always giving informative information and helped me learn so much, though not in person. Always gave so much information and I learned something new every week because of Clinker. He will surely be missed on this forum. Please give his family my reguards.
i am very very sad to hear this tragic news, clinkers posts were absolutely brilliant, and i will certainly miss them. rest in peace my friend
Rest In Peace, my friend This may be the biggest single loss that this forum has ever suffered. He was a credit to our hobby, our forum and our species. His tireless efforts for our enjoyment were appreciated by those who knew as well as those who didn't know that it was very difficult for him to do so. I think it's only fitting that we named an award after him and that he knew it while he was still with us. The man could have his own wing of The Best of Cointalk. Our forum is now diminished for his loss and our lives are a bit dimmer, but I am happy to have been influenced by the man and I will take his example of how to share the knowledge of coins and collecting with everyone that I can, just as he did. I hope that by so doing, that even though our friend is gone, his love of sharing the hobby will not go with him.
You know, I just had an idea inspired by your post. I think a lot of us know Paul Green, and how his articles are still appearing in NN after his unfortunate passing. I am not sure of the number of Clinker's trivia posts, but it really would be cool if once a week one of them were recycled and appeared as a new post again. TBH most of his posts are like Paul Green's articles, not time sensitive but just great background information for collectors. Not sure how doable it would be, but I sure would look forward to the "new" Clinker post each week. Chris
Thats an interesting idea Chris. There is certainly enough material from him that we could have a "new" post from his writings every day and they'd never get stale.
That sounds like a great idea Chris. It'd be a shame to never see a Clinker thread again. You always knew when you saw a TRIVIA: thread it was going to be good. RIP Clinker, you'll be sorely missed. Just thinking out loud, but maybe set up a section for Clinker on the home page (where the articles are) where one of his threads could be posted once a week. -And maybe the section could have a little explanation of who Clinker was.
Thank you for informing us GD. It's never an easy task. I will miss his informative threads, and his unforgettable signature, Clinker. RIP kindred spirit.
Wow, what a shock! Always hate to open these threads. You never know who will be gone next. This is a real shame. You get used to people and think they'll be around forever. I didn't realize he was disabled. He had some great posts. I will surely miss him. He was one of our best members IMO. I agree with Doug's statement. Maybe somebody could send a link to this thread to his family? R.I.P Clinker.
This is sad news. His threads were so informative and interesting. He will be missed. Condolences to his family.
