Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

Okay, so Since my first contest idea got bombed due to legal issues and technicality, I will be the host of Secret Santa. If you are interested, Go ahead and and comment on this post whether or not you are interested If you are interested, I will give until December 8th for the people interested to post, then I will put the names in a hat and draw for you. If you are interested, Please also PM your address and a certain series of coin or coins you are interested in this is just a guideline.

Here are the rules of the exchange:
The item(s) must be coin related
The item(s) will amount to the price of $15 or slightly around. Please have a conscience and do what is right.
Please do not enter your name if you are not going to send gifts.
You must mail upon receipt of the person and address.
Do not put your screenname or name you go by (on CT) on the package unless you really want to let the cat out of the bag. *changed, Do put your name on so that there is no confusion with the PO (our good friend)

I will be participating in the secret santa exchange too, so I will know who sent it. But I will be fair and draw the name out of a hat too.
    What I will do:
Put every participating person's screen name in a paper bag
Put every screen name and address in another bag
Draw one member, and draw out of the other bag and match them up.
If the name and member match, I will throw them back in and draw again so nobody gets themselves
If I draw people sending gifts to eachother, I will re-draw

If the gift comes early, please restrain your excitement of wanting to tear it open and wait until christmas, then post what you got from your "secret" Santa. Only because I really wanna know what gets given around ;)

    Let the gifting begin!

Note: If you have flaked on any previous years and entered, you will be excluded just as a precaution.

I may be the only cheapskate here at CT, but $20-$25 is a bit much, IMO. I'm thinkin' $5. $10 if you're a generous soul. I'd rather not spend a night out at the movies sending a gift to someone I don't know. ;)

    Just my honest opinion...

  4. Its simple dont play if you feel like its more than you want to give.
I never thought about it being about cost but more about giveing and the want to give.
God i am too old to be on here right.
If the gift you get is total to what you gave or maybe its a little more how can you lose

    A couple more comments.......

    1) Omit the parts of your outline that I put in bold print.

    2) It isn't necessary for participants to post their intention on this thread. This way, it will be a complete surprise to the recipient who the sender might be.

    3) It shouldn't be required that each participant submit a list of coins they collect or desire. It should be totally up to the sender to decide what the gift shall be. (If that were the case, everybody would be collecting gold!)

    4) It shouldn't have to be a US coin. It could be anything related to numismatics.......foreign coin, book, medal, etc. You wouldn't want to exclude the people who only collect foreign coins and/or currency, and it shouldn't be necessary for these potential participants to have to buy a gift.

    5) It would also be better if the sender have the true name of the person receiving the gift. I know of instances where the USPS wouldn't deliver a package because the name didn't match the residents at that address. If someone doesn't want to reveal their true identity, then maybe they shouldn't participate.

    6) Don't forget! When drawing the names at random, you should make sure that two people do not merely send gifts to each other.

I'll give it a shot. I like the idea of surprising the person with a coin that they're not particularly looking for. :thumb:

$15? I don't have that kind of money. Sorry. How about $2 $3 $4 or $5. We should pick. Just not one that would not be accepted at a store.

An earlier post stated it already, but here again..if you can't afford it, don't enter. Or you could start an exchange with a lower dollar amount.

    :)
