Did two boxes of dimes and all I found were three canadian dimes and my first cayman island nickel. The silver has really slowed down for me. I hope to pick up four boxes of halves tomorrow from the wells fargo that consistently produces for me.

$100 in CWR of halves - skunk. I guess the big X on each roll meant "no silver".

Thanks Kookoox...I'm going to get rid of these on Friday and get some dime boxes. Half boxes in my area are very poor. My 40% average per box is 1.4 per box and my 90% average is 0.29.

Had a bad experience at Trustco the other day. I originally went out on a wheat penny hunting spree with birthday money and ended up going into a bank i never go to. i asked for a box of pennies, and they said they had one but asked if i had an account with them. I said no, but asked if i could get one. The teller proceeded to ask me how old i was, and told me i was to young to have an account. As I was about to lave, they asked me what i did with the pennies anyway, and when i told them i was a coin collector, and i looked at the coins and brought them back( this normally allows me to get them) the teller told me they would not accept the pennies back.

Have any of you had an experience like this? I am now thinking of making that bank my dump bank just to make them angry. What fun!:D

Great box...your T-Day is off to a great start. I'd be very happy with all those Frankies and the WL is just icing on the cake!

Yesterday on my way to a friends house in a a very small town, stopped in a bank three minutes before they closed, they had five rolls of halves. One roll had 1964-1969 written on the side. The whole roll was %40'ers :D picked up another 2 %40ers and a 1964 SWEET :smile

I sometimes get asked what i do with a box of pennies, but i also get them from a bank i have multiple accounts at. My dump bank required me to open an account to, so just make sure you don't have to be an account holder to return coins. They charge a fee at my bank for non members.

    $10 in cents, all BWR:

    Wheat: 2
    2009: 6
    '59-'81: 212
    Canadian: 3

There is also a 1970s that I'll need to get on the scanner since I can't rule out that it is a small date with my lousy magnifying glass.

Rule of thumb for roll-searching: You do not dump at the same bank you get your coins from. Also, how can you make it a dump bank if you don't have an account there? It sounds like you may want to just avoid that bank for box purchases. Hit them up for halves or small amounts of rolls.

Hit up some banks near my girlfriends house, they were all cleaned out until about 1:30, when I finally found a bank with some halves, from there on out, they were available, but sparse. $360 or so in halves, all CWR or loose in trays, gave up 6 40%'ers and 1 '64. Also grabbed 2 dime boxes, which gave up 1 each.

Don't sweat it...just be polite and honest. Eventually, you'll learn some of this is a need to know basis. I don't lie to anyone, but I don't tell the entire truth either. Just enough to get what I want. However, if you don't have an account at a bank, they often will turn you away for big change requests. Better off asking for $5 worth.
