the oldest star note i have is series 1998A $1 that's pretty beat up. in my one month+ of collecting, i've found probably 4 dozen that i've kept. one of these days, i hope an older star note or silver cert will show up in my drawer. on a side note, i have a friend that works in a hardware store. he said he picked up two $5 silver certificates on monday from a young kid buying something. he kept them, instead of depositing them up here at the bank, otherwise they would have been mine.
I thought I was going to leave work today with out any good finds, but the public didn't let me down. 1 hour before I was about to leave some one walk in with this. This is now my oldest $100
Pulled my first '09 star the other day. G00518562* Also got 3'63B Barr notes in the past couple weeks. A cashier was given a '28 $5 and a silver cert but she took it home.
Your 2009 $1 G * is from a mildly low-print run of 640,000 notes. I have on example myself that I got from the bank. I can't believe how common the Barr's are. I purchased some uncirculated ones back in the day and I'm starting to regret it. I purchased them thinking that not a whole lot of them would be around much. I was obviously sadly mistaken... It is starting to appear as if they are found on a regular basis... Thats too bad. Don't get me wrong though, I'm real happy for you and the other people that have found them, but at the time time I am disapointed in how common they are amoungst circulation...
i just snagged a sweet 1934C $20 from the teller drawer. seriously. who's going to mcdonald's and buying food with 75-year-old $20's?
yeah, i've been looking for a production detail to nail down a press date on the note and have yet to find any solid data. where would you suggest i look?
i had checked that site, but the best i could do was get a date range of 1946-1949 for the 1934c $20 notes. either way, it's the oldest note i have by 20+ years. i think i'll keep it!
