Beautiful Lincoln! You know, if you have a car buffer or access to one you can remove those pesky scratches in the plastic with a little plastic lens cleaner and a buffer. Or you can do it without the lens cleaner but it take a little longer.
This was bought from a Teletrade auction a few years back. If one can read their pretty bad pictures, there are some nice coins to find there once in a while. Although it isn't a proof, it does have nice sandy matte fields on both sides that I really like. MS 65 BN NGC. Matt
The obverse of this 1918 is its more flattering side. This crisp strike all the way through the ear and flawless fields make this an interesting coin to me. It is the mottled spots on the reverse that limit the grade to 64, but oh well, with that obverse, I don't really care that much. I'll keep my powder dry for more expensive branch mint dates. I actually cracked this out of an NNC slab I bought from eBay when I first started collecting these (it prob had a ms68 grade on it) and had it re graded a few years later at NGC in its rightful resting place. Interesting coins. Obviously, the 28-D is my favorite. BTW, How did you come up with the name of that pictures of the 47-S?
It is what I was told it was. I doubt that most of my coins are correct but soon enough I will find out. What do you think it is?
