I just found this tread. Amazing offer you set forth. I'd like to be considered for entry into the contest, with one caveat:

There is still a chance my order for one set, order #383813XX might get filled. I haven't received a cancel email yet. Should I be accepted into your contest and should I be the lucky person to win the draw, I'd like to hold off finalizing the award until the Mint has completed their order-filling process (I don't know if they will done by this Friday). Should I be lucky enough to get a set from the Mint, I don't want to deprive another collector of your most generous offer to have a set. Maybe if I do win your contest, perhaps you could also choose a runner-up in case my Mint order gets filled. Thank you.

 

If I'm not misunderstanding the rules, you're not eligible. You had 5 posts at the start of the contest, as it were. Then again, it's up to Flyer how he chooses to interpret the rules. Good luck to you (both in getting into the contest and getting your set).

 

*******Very Important Update******
I really thought the Mint would have all the orders out by now. That is not the case. People are still waiting to hear if their order has been cancelled or not. I am now extending the deadling to this contest until Wednesday Nov 23 and will update the contest rules to reflect this. I still haven't got the coins back from NGC anyway. Hoping to get the coins back by Wednesday. Sorry about the confusion.

 

My pleasue on the contest and you will be in if you don't get your sets from the Mint. I have upded the rules to extend the contest until Wednesday. I think we should know by then if the orders will be cancelled or not.

Hey Flyers10, Thanks for the extention. I only wish the U.S. Mint was this gracious.
I don't have much of a story except I am old (74) and forgetful. By the time I realized the Mint was taking orders I was a day late. Oh Well ! Probably saved me from having a heart attack while trying to get through the phone lines. I almost cried when I went on your post for the contest and though " Oh No, not another miss as it was already 10:00 AM here on the west coast and the contest entries were closed. Thanks to Ken Green for informing me that you extended the deadline. So please put my name in the hat for the drawing.

I just saw this contest and wish to say, that is an awesome and generous thing you are doing. It is really great seeing something like this in our current world of self interests and greed.

In the good spirit of this contest, I will not be entering, since I would most likely flip it. Good luck to all who entered.

I finally had a chance to see one of these sets in real life and I have to admit, these are real beauties.. Definitely would love a set of these but, reading some of these entries makes me feel my little reason really isn't all that much. I simply wasn't able to get thru the day they went on sale.
It seems some here have way better reasons than mine. In my case it was the luck of the draw I guess..

Well I got my grades back from NGC and they are going to be shipped back to me today. The bad news is I didn't get any full Sets of MS69 and PF69 coins. The really good news is 24 out of the 25 coins came back MS70 and PF70. The only come that came back PF69 Ultra Cameo was the regular 2011 W Proof coin. So the best I can do on this set is the 4 other coins in PF70 and MS70 and the regular Proof coin in PF69 Ultra Cameo.

Now for the major amendment on the rules of the contest. Since this is almost a complete Set of 70's I think a Total of $600 for the set is more than a fair price since they are going for about $2000 right now. It did cost me more than $400 total for the set to buy them raw and then get them graded. Does this sound fair? Please let me know who wants to be in the contest now with the price change of $600. Thanks.

With the difference in the grades, I would like to put my name in for the contest. $600 is more than fair, infact very generous.

 

I'm still in flyes10! I really don't think I'll be getting anything but a cancellation letter from the mint!

Contest for 1 25TH Anniversary Silver Eagle Set Certified MS70 and & PF7- by NGC, I will also include the presentation case and COA as it came from the Mint. Only coin that is PF69 is the 2011-W regular Proof. You will have the option of breaking the coins out of the NGC slabs if you like. O

Now for the rules. The set cost me $300 plus about $100 per set to grade so about $400 total. Christmas has come early. The winner will pay me (Paypal is fine for payment) $600 total which will include free shipping.
Now here is who is eligible. First and most important is that if you were unable to get a set from the Mint you are eligible to play. My goal is to make sure that a true collector that was unable to get a set from the Mint due to the early sell out get a set at cost. Plain and simple. If you have a Eagle Set already let someone who was not as lucky have a chance to get one.
I can’t tell you what to do with the set if you win. But I would appreciate if you win please hold on to the set since you are a collector. I could easily flip this set for at least double the money. Please don’t flip it. I am looking for someone that will keep the set in their collection.
You must have at least 10 posts on Cointalk also. To those that meet the criteria to enter please write a brief note on your experience trying to get this set and why you want it. I will then take all the entries that make the cut for a random drawing. Deadline will be Friday 11/23/11 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Drawing will be Wednesday 11/23/11 at 10:30 PM Eastern Time.
My Sets are in for grading right now so I am not exactly sure when I will get them. Once I get them I will let the winner know and they can pay me the $600 for the Set and I will ship out the same day of payment.
