From Israel to Canada. The buyyer not in his office or in his home and the letter with the coin comeback to me. On the envelope was written : Moved or Unknown. Here is the picture of the note. The buyyer wake up now and demand his coin and he order me to ship again the coin without pay me for shiping again. If the buyyer will make to me negative feedback, is ebay will remove this negative feedbak? Because I am not responsibl to the shiping? The buyyer don't want to pay again for shipping. What I have to do? Thank you.
Hi Avi. I can't say what eBay will do. They're notorious for saying one thing and doing the opposite. Basically, I would be proactive with them and contact eBay about the item being returned to you, indicating that the address is/was invalid. I would not resend the coin.
The first thing I would do is contact the buyer and let him know the following: 1. You shipped the coin to the address listed on file by ebay as his home address 2. If he has since moved, it is his responsibility to change his mailing address with eBay, or he will have all items from future auctions he wins sent to the wrong address as well. Bottom line, he needs to update his mailing address. 3. If I was in your shoes as the seller, I'd probably just eat the shipping costs on this one and send him his coin, rather than risk a negative feedback. Future business is more valuable than the cost of shipping. Then I'd block this buyer from bidding on any of my auctions in the future. It may have been a genuine mistake on his part, or he may be trying to take advantage of you, don't risk the latter again by simply blocking him, you won't have to ever do business with him again. There's a fine line between being taken advantage of, and bending over backwards for your customers. Yes, it was his mistake, but this is an opportunity to build your reputation as a seller or risk ruining it. Not worth ruining it over a few bucks for shipping in my opinion. Take the moral high ground, it may cost a few bucks right now, but in the long run you'll come out ahead.
It is very possible that Canada Post dropped the ball and fouled up on the address part. I think I would have the buyer check with Canada Post and find out why they are returning his mail before you send the coin back to him.
