An entire roll of 1936 Cents, all Bright, Shiny and Red, looked like they just came from the mint! My eyes must have fallen out of my head! I was working with JC Penney at the time during the Christmas seaon some years back in Fallon, Nevada. I popped open a what I thought a common roll of cents to put in the till before the store opened! Nothing close since, dammitt!! :(

colligoergosum I collect, therefore I am

My best find would have to be this past week when I went to a random BofA and asked for their halves, got three rolls and found 2 '64s and 2 Franklins.

My personal goal is to find a Morgan in a roll of Ikes, but the only thing I've ever found in there is a '73 S.

Like you, the cent in my avatar, but it isn't worth anything (3 cents?)
and another useless cent, a maybe MS67 1995 D cent

    other than that, nothing

About 2 years ago a local auction company ran ads for a coin collection for sale. The auction was on a Sat night and viewing was only on Friday only. The auction company was in an OK area during the day and and a iffy area at night. I went Friday and the Numismatist plan out told me he had been working non stop and a few of the lots he was unable to really look at. Boxes of rolled cents, proof sets that were unopened from the 50's and 60's, a 16lb bag of Buffalo Nickels, etc My son loves Buffalos so he went with me Sat Night. I "won" 2 of the cent lots where there were roll after roll of common wheat cents...but underneath were rolls and rolls of unc cents from the mid 40's to the late 60's. I got a great deal as it took my son and myself just to lift the boxes into my trunk of the car. I bought a lot of Washington quarters and nothing Great. A couple of Commeratives and still no great ones, missed out on the proof sets as we ran out of money on the bag of Buffalos. My son asked if we could bid but was short of money we set a limit as he figured out how many nickels there were in 16 lbs. He was going to help sell or work off the amount I loaned him. It bid up and after our limit was hit it and I did one more bid and we "won" the lot. We got it home and we found a 1913S type II VG right away a lot of mint marked ones in the teens and earlier 20's some with problems as we are in the San Fransico Bay Area close to the bay. we found quite a few two feathers and a couple of mint errors. We looked through all the coins as the bag had the early ones on the top and later ones on the bottom. We went to 1926s and found two that slabbed VF. Sold one on Teletrade along with a few of the others in the teens and twenties. We got enough to pay for the whole lot. The big bag got put away as my son's sport was coming up, then I changed jobs, then spring then summer then his sport again. 3 weeks ago we got the bag out and started to look through it again. We got several XF's from 1927 to 1931 then got some unc in 2X2's from 1934 on. We did not get a 1936D 3 1/2 leg but looked then we started on the 37's and 38's. I gave my son the bag of 37's and I took the 38's as that bag had several coins in 2X2"s. I told to him look for the the three legger. About one minute later he said Dad I think I got one. Sure enough it had the markers and was a solid Vf. My wife came in and asked what we boys were laughing about. I told her and she said that was Great! Wow! Find some more. About two minutes later he said Dad I think I have another one! Better than the first one! WOW! We were laughing and my wife came in and said WOW you guys are sure having fun. I finished my pile maybe one 38 D/S, which I did not mention. He got real quite and in a soft voice said Dad I have one more! It was close to XF! We got them back from ICG yesterday and got VF30, VF35 and VF35 one could have gone XF40 but it is what it is. I read that ICG conserves the coins that come in for the basic slabbing fee. One of the three had a little crud on the edge and they made it look great. Nice Job ICG. I put them on my son's desk before he got home from school. Then they disappeared. I asked him what he was going to do and he said save them. I think he owes me some more work around the house!

I had a couple actually. Found a full roll of wheat cents in my coin roll hunting. Received a 33-s Walker in change 4 years ago. And the best find was receiving $23 face in peace dollars at the casino I worked at in Nevada.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

While shopping at safeway to get my usual fill of junk and juice, I paid at the U-scan, and recieved my change. In that $0.44 change, I had a quarter, dime, nickel three pennies and one coin I thought was worthless foreign. Upon further examination, it revealed itself as an 1821 Bust dime. That is also one reason I started collecting.

Not realizing that I posted on this same thread 6 months ago, I was ready to post everything I have ever found

I haven't been searching rolls that often, so not much good coming from there, except two rolls full of brand-new 2011 dimes (I don't even think there is any value in those?)

The only coins of any importance I have gotten from change are 2 totally black 1964 dimes (P+D). I was the happiest person in the world when I found them, like I won the lottery.

2011's are common as dirt around here. I've had a few big finds since my last post in this thread... Haven't beaten the '99 WAM or the dime finds, but I did find some interesting hoards of coins, including a crazy, crazy half dollar find...

As for the nickels, I picked up a box with 46 V-Nicks in it. Nicest of the lot was a VFish 1883 without cents. No key dates or anything.

In the 7 months since that initial post, I've managed to pick up a few silver dollars as well as a few more T2's. My tally now stands at 7 '72 T2's, one peace, three morgans, and a '73-S 40% silver burnished strike.

    Three of the Morgans and one of the T2's came from a lot of 5 coins I picked up;

And here's the reverse of the peace dollar, which was mixed in with ~$70 in Ikes.

Maybe 20%. Too much work to order and dump them all the time.

The fact that you can obtain about 20 boxes is amazing. Ive been to BofA's, wells Fargo, us bank, bank of the west's and so on and I can't get anybody to order me boxes here in the SF bay.

Nothing really, a 1953 dime caked in black crud, like hard ashes, not that black gummy stuff. Also a few very nicely toned cents on the ground and even a 5c euro which was toned very well.

Best find was a roll of '46-'64 silver Rosies. :)
