I would like to know myself, but I'm not hopeful. In his last post he said he said goodbye to everyone on CT and it sounded like he was putting his estate in order. If anyone can provide further details, sad though they may be, please pass them along.

I think I remember seeing his last post when I first joined this site a few months ago. It did seem sad. I hope he's okay.

Rick bid his farewell to the CT members with his final post.

    That was posted 7/06/2011.

RickieB was a fantastic asset to this board. He was nice enough to sell me a $1 North Africa Yellow Seal and a 1966 $100 bill that he got from his bank for only face value and shipping. http://www.cointalk.com/t73288/ For him to leave the board entirely leads me to believe that he has some kind of serious health issues and feels that the end is near, unfortunately...

Yes he was a nice man who always had kind things to say. I too hope for the best of course, but after reading his last post am not too hopeful. It sounded very much as if he knew what he was talking about.

Ricky sold me a real nice fancy SN $20 for face. It still has his sticker on the holder and always will.
A great guy that knew his stuff about currency.
Sorry to write of him in the past tense. I hope he's still with us.

I feel very fortunate in having learned what I did from the brief time I knew him. He will be missed and I personally feel that any way I may be able to help another and pass on the things I have learned will be a great honor to him.

i have a friend who collects paper bills and i asked him about this person. his reply was that he has a friend(s) that collect and thought they knew of this guy in a currency club in the northeast.
according to my friends feedback a collector named rick has not been in attendance since summer last year. they were told that a person they think was this guy sold the collection. they also said that it is thought that he has a pretty large small size collection that contains some hard to find stuff that was shown at one of the meeting in 2009. my friends name is dave and he knows a guy in the northeast by the name of bob who thought this might be the guy. no one has seen or heard from him in a long while.
just what i found out. have no idea if this is the same person or not.

RickieB started that thread and since then, he too has had his own health challenges and has left this forum, as linked to earlier. We all wished him well and whether in life or death, remember him fondly, especially on veterans day. Semper Fi Rick!

Dok, what those of us who knew Rick were given is hard to express. His generosity to so many on these forums was overwhelming. If it was not material then it was by inspiration and nurturing other collectors and their interests. Rick did one thing in his parting with CT, he seized the time on his grounds, to bid this online community a fond farewell. As he wished, he choose to have his privacy respected when he turned to spend his time with his family instead of this one.

RB is the only member of this forum whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know outside of the forum and have spoken to on the phone even. I sincerely appreciate that he wishes to have his privacy, and knowing how protective he is of his family etc.

Meanwhile I treasure this piece of his collection that now resides in my hoard of notes:[IMG]

And curiously enough I even obtained the print of my avatar through a contact that RB arranged.

I also must say that Rick is greatly missed. He was the reason I got started with collecting notes, which has since become the majority of my collection. I have a few notes and a coin I acquired from him, the most recent featured below. I wish Rick only the best and hope he's still pushing threw!

i am not 100% sure of this but i asked my friend dave to see if he could find out any more news from bob in the northeast through a coin shop.
dave told me that he was informed that the person who he thought this may be about, is no longer with us. i do not want to start rumors on this, this is what i was told today and thought i would mention it. it makes me feel sad and i dont know the guy if it was him.

I was a great man. I was fortunate enough to win one of his notes that were on Heritage in January
