Hello, I got 10 air tites from ebay, for some Red/ RB Indian Head Cents, what would be the best way to store these and still have a presentable collection like in a dansco. My idea was to get some brown coins in the album and only have the red ones in air tites ( i dont like empty holes in my albums) Thanks Dan
i was thinking of doing the same thing for my wheat cents ... well i came up with the idea of getting those 2x2 marcus coin holder airtites and possibly putting them in a 2x2 plastic display case but i'm not sure if the marcus airtite holders fit in the same spot as a cardboard 2x2 anyways ... just a thought
They won't fit in a standard page of 2x2 pockets. They're just too thick and will bust the pockets open if you try to squeeze one in there. If you want to display them on a page with 2x2 pockets, you may want to consider using PVC free mylar flips. I typically use BCW brand. They come with blank info cards you can display in back of each coin, but I prefer to display both sides and toss out the cards.
i didn't mean a plastic folder page for 2x2's i meant like a thicker plastic display... still not sure if they'll fit
like this http://www.air-tites.com/coin_display_tray.htm and i just saw it does say plastic 2x2's should fit
I like the air-tites myself, but they lack storage or display options unlike the 2x2 slab type holders. I personally go with their 400 series velvet type cards that hold a particular type of air-tite holder or you can get them mixed and get their nice binder holder to put them in. They're compact enough to put in most safes as well, which is what I was going for. http://www.air-tites.com/air-tite_coin_albums.htm But if you decide to order these, search for other stores online. I got mine from valleycoin.com which has much more reasonable prices.
It should. Cents air-tite holders should be size A, which is 30.93mm in diameter. Half dollars are 30.6mm in diameter. So you'll have to add a little force but it means it should fit snug once it's in place. The reason I like air-tites as well is I buy more commonly used A, T, H or I sizes and get the inside ring for the coins to slip into, so I can swap out coins in them if needed without having to buy a whole slab or another direct fit holder, just keep the rings that go inside for custom fit handy.
