I see where APMEX is offering $425 for the sets on their website. Little more then $600 profit if you bought the 5 sets... yesterday.

Holy cow these are going ballistic.

$425 is a pretty strong buy price as long as they keep selling in the $500 range on Ebay.(taken into account the fees and shipping and all that, you would only make a bit more selling individually) But "IF"the price starts to go up from here The online retailers may not get as many as they are hoping for. Ehhh
Im waiting for prices to stabalize until then prices are irrevelant.

  5. They posted that buy price yesterday. Who knows when they will remove it? I think it would be wise to lock in and agree to sell now and secure that easy profit. One issue that arises though is that they want sets in sealed boxes, just like most people do, to send them for grading. Many people who ordered 5 sets with the hopes of selling 4 and keeping one will not be able to partake in this offer. TC

I called apmex today, and if for some reason you don't recieve the set(s) you ordered from the mint, you would be liable to
apmex for a cancellation fee.But I did throw out a higher price than $425.00 and it was readily accepted.

Wow. I'm sure they intend to make a fortune on 70s. I wouldn't take this offer. $425 is too cheap for me to let any go.

Just like any commodity...it all depends on if you think the price is going up or going down.

Not anymore. Single sets going for 7 to $800 on ebay already.

how long does ampex usually hold their sets before reselling? because i would think with a retail mind set that they want to resell at 2.5x what they would pay so about 1050-1075 a set (i know some they will have graded and try selling at 3000-4000) but are they thinking on a 2 year resell or do they hold for even longer?

Wait a second. Let me get this straight. I call Ampex and commit to sell them some sets, and then the mint goes and cancels my order, then I'm beholding to Ampex for a cancellation fee? That type of monkey shines turns me off. Frig them......

  12. Not sure I would trust eBay presales as an indicator of true market value. I really hope you make a nice profit on these. However, when these sets start shipping and supply is high, let's see if people are willing to pay big money. I know several collectors who missed out who adamantly state they will never pay high prices, especially around the holidays. Flippers will be flipping to other flippers, and in the end someone will overpay and get burned. I may be wrong but my suggestion would be to get your profit as soon as possible. The big money will be in the MS/PF 70 for the two unique coins in the set. ;). TC

  13. Ken: Apmex wants all 5 sealed in a box. This would prelude you and many others from keeping a set for yourself. They are shooting for the almighty MS70/PF70 grades. My set is staying on OGP. TC

Yes, just ask Mr. Lincoln. I have lots of the cent collectables in the safe, but since they never limited mintages they are worth less than I paid for them. You win some, you lose some. In the end of the day I like them so I will hang on to them for now.

Looks like pre orders for sealed 5 order boxes are going for $2,850-$3,100 on EBay currently.
