Found a couple of bills tonight that might be errors. Wanna get some an opinion though. A lot of extra red color with a spot also in the eagle on front.
Im guessing yall are talking about the $1. The pic does not show the $5 very well, I compared it to 15-20 other fives and none are even close. It looks like red coolaid at first glance.
The $1 (as stated by tonedcoins), isn't a typical solvent smear but it might be damage after the fact eg. sitting on a work bench, or whatever. Zach might not be far off with the dye pack reference. I come across a lot of notes with remnants of dye pack ink. I think the ones with minor damage might just be put back into circulation.
I fail to see anything wrong with the $5, it looks normal to me. What do you think is wrong with it? The $1 is what a coin collector would call PMD, or Post Mint Damage, sorry (is there a term for PMD but for paper money? I there isn't, I'll make my own one up of PPM, Post Print Damage)
Figured that on the one, thats why I was looking for feedback on it. The pic does not show the $5 very well, I compared it to 15-20 other fives and none are even close. It looks like red coolaid at first glance, its the same red as all the color $5's just VERY heavy and spread out a little further than normal. Will get a better pic tonight. I left these in the safe instead of buying them.
I see very lite excessive coloring shading, so I can sort of see it, but not well enough to determine if it is in fact an error or not. If you can, see if you can get scans versus pictures. Scans always tend to get better detailing, especially wtih error notes.
