Hello everyone, another customer at work heard me talking about coins and said about finding a 1901 O morgan dollar in a car he was cleaning. He is thinking about selling it and i told him i may be interested. Im no expert but something seems off about it, i dont know much about them and have only seen 3 that my aunt has in a frame and a few from a dealer. The color of it seems off and the sound it makes as well. Im going to weigh it tomorrow. Here are pics of it. I just wanted everyone opinion of the coin and what you would pay for it. All input is highly welcomed. Thanks Brock
Unfortunately, it's the most common of the 1901 Morgans, with over 13 million struck at New Orleans that year. I'd say G-VG on grade, somewhere in the neighborhood of $35 on value.
My scale only weighs whole grams and it rounds up. It weighed 27g he's willing to sell it for $15 sound like a good buy?
I would say so. Melt value is $27 based on this site http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html
