I have these two coins (tokens). Does anyone know where they are from and what they are? Is there any value attached to either?
The one on top says "Israel Shekel" on the side with a cup. Other side says "Holy Jerusalem". It seems like a modern token designed to look ancient for tourists.
The first one is a modern "false shekel", as Taxidermist mentioned. The second is a Hindu temple token, the age for which is very difficult to determine. These temple tokens were made the same way in the 1800's all the way up past the 1950's. The date on it is 1804, but this is a VS (Vikrama Samvat) date that converts to around 1748 by our Gregorian calendar. However, this date is a tribute date, either to an important person or event and has no bearing on the actual age of the token.
