lol no, but i'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one coming upon some cool finds. I'm mainly a bullion guy (hence the lack of knowledge about grading and some other numis. items) but that's what makes it fun.
I'm not sure why the "2" in the 1828 halves are totally different, but there were so many varieties of bust halves that this might be a normal configuration. As far as being genuine, well, they have edge lettering, which is a good sign (though the current group of Chinese fakes have this also). Either way, all three look harshly cleaned.
The first 1828, the square base 2 appears to be an O-120, it is a fairly common R1 coin. The next 1828 the curl base 2 appears to be, at least as well as I can tell an O-104, slightly rarer at R3. The 1831 looks to me like it might be an O-106 or an O-107, hard to tell without the coin in hand. Either way, the I would call these genuine based on what I am seeing.
Thanks! Yeah, I didn't really notice they were cleaned until I took them out of the flips and looked at it under a stronger light. The scratch marks were more apparent then. Curious as to what they are worth as they are in decent condition but cleaned. $50 each?
