It was graded MS63BN I'm guessing the reverse was keeping it from something better. I agree the obverse does look better than the reverse. I noticed the reverse was a bit weird versus the obverse. But wanted to see what others thought.. I guess this should have been in a separate thread.. Sorry bout that..
As splotchy as that reverse is, it does not really surprise me despite my earlier vote. On the other hand, I would take this over most other 63BN's
I recently purchased these 4 Lincolns. I think they were originally in this post when they went up for sale. Anyway, I reshot them. The target toning on the 1970-s proof is not uncommon. Ngc doesn't seem to grade the modern proofs with this toning, except for this year. Here are 4 beautiful examples.
Got these little gals in from the 'bay this week... around for around 5 clams each I definitely likely likely  The pics are rushed, and these are much much more impressive in hand. Very neat toned proofs !
I have a similar one to the 1964, but it's uncertified, I got it on eBay and the seller sent it plainly in the envelope, the condition it went though in the USPS system caused very similar toning, probably helped that the envelope was not a coin one and had different chemicals that could tone in it.
The 64 is wild.. Steel toning. The 63 is yellow as the sun, with bubble gum colors on the reverse. Neat coins, and less than the gratuity on my usual bar bill ; ) Got a few other toners back from NGC recently too, and reimaged the above two...
I've got a 61 proof that also has some very nice tone to it as well, though I can't get a good pic of it... These are very nice..
I don't have any awesome high grade Lincolns to share like the ones in this thread. (I do like looking though) Occasionally I run across cool ones though while roll searching. Here's one I like.
New one Old one I was able to upgrade my 1931 Lincoln Cent recently! The new one is the Red Brown one and the older one is the Grey one. Anybody want to guess the grade? Ah, both are graded MS 65 BN. The first one is quite alive and the mint luster really propels the chestnut color outward. The Grey one has nice mint luster too, but I just like the new one a little more. I usually sell or trade all my doubles, so who knows where the darker one will turn up. What say the rest of you guys? Matt
This arrived yesterday. I've looked for the right one for a very long time and found this one in the Heritage ANA Pittsburg auction
