Yes and no. The Mark that was introduced as the newly founded Empire's currency was worth 1/3 Vereinstaler, and the pre-1871 Taler coins stayed in circulation - worth 3 Mark - for a while after the new currency had been introduced. However, it took about 30 more years until the actual 3 M coin was first issued. Christian
I posted these else where but probably this is the correct thread. I love German states thalers and here is few i got recently. All from different states. So far i have 20 thalers from Prussia, Saxony, Bavaria, Frankfurt FC, Augsburg, Hanover, Wurrtemburg, Brunswick, Anhalt and Hessen.
