I HAVE GOTTEN MIXED OPINIONS ON THIS COIN. IT HAS BEEN CALLED A DDO BUT ALSO "PLATE DOUBLING"? BUT THE 2 IS THROWING ME FOR A LOOP. MAY I PLEASE HAVE MORE OPINIONS? doesn't the 2 have the split lines in the middle of it? plus note the bottom of the 2. ty for additional help and advice in this matter. this last pic is of liberty rotated 90 degrees as suggested.
I think you need to ditch that microscope for shiny uncirculated coins, or find some other way of lighting them. The lighting plays tricks on you, making you see things that just aren't there. Try this once, rotate the coin 90 degrees while leaving the microscope in the same position and take another pic of the date. I'll bet you get different results in what you see.
It's nearly impossible to tell what a coin really is from photos but your coin appears to be what is called plate doubling where the copper plating raises up a little at the edge of the details.I have seen some folks on Ebay selling what looks like 2011 plate doubling coins as real doubled dies. this will hurt the value of the real ones. there are at least five confirmed doubled dies for 2011 . I'm going to try to add a link to this post so folks can see what a real 2011 doubled die looks like. click here http://www.coppercoins.com/diesearch.php?page=264
this next pic is with the 90 degree rotation. it may not be as apparent but i cant get past the 2. i still see the line in the middle plus the 2's tail. the second pic is of a vertical normal pic moved down a little out of the spot light.
i'm sorry if i am looking to far into this. it would be really AWESOME if it was actually something. nothing with the 11 with the lines in the middle?
