Found a weird Kennedy Half Dollar today. It's a 1983 P and it looks silver on the edges, but doesn't sound like it. It also has 1960 stamped above the 'In God' and 1980 stamped above the 'We Trust'. Anybody know about this coin? I have seen Gold Plated ones, but not silver.

    Plmk

    Thanks

fifty.jpg fiftyreve.jpg clipped.jpg clipped2.jpg well three boxes of halves and pulled seven proofs and a fake clipped planchet error, no silver at all. Im pretty much done with halves from b of a unless they're cwr. Also after turning in all my coin ,I asked if they had any old bills and i got this 1934 fifty dollar bill.I know its in horrible condition and worth only face but still a cool find from a bank IMO. also heres a pic of the fake error.

That, along with the gold plated ones, were gimmicks sold to people to commemorate the 20th (and they also had "1985" stamped above 'We Trust' for the 25th) anniversary of JFK's election.

Today, after being skunked on cents and nickels, one of my friends, just my luck, gave me a 1959 silver Washington he found in his change pile.

    Did my first CRH'ing in several weeks today. 20 BWR N's and 10 CWR N's: 1 x buff, 1 x war.

Plus, found a Thai 1 baht coin. I can't read Thai, so I don't know what year it is, but based on a weight of 3.4 grams, it's cupronickel and made between 1986 and 2007. Back into circulation...

School is sucking up so much of my time, not sure how much CRH'ing I'm going to be able to do from now on. :(

Checking in from Hilton Head Island, SC. Only checked about 6 banks between yesterday and today. Found about $9 in loose Halves - Skunk. Picked up 2 Ikes.

    Also grabbed the following:

    2 boxes of Dimes - 1 Rosie
    1 box of Nickels - 1 War

Slim pickings down here. I'll be doing some more off and on throughout the week, but it looks like October will end with a whimper after starting strong.

i found a medallion inside a bag of "junk" coins up at the bank friday.

    IMG00215-20111023-1553.jpg IMG00216-20111023-1553.jpg

it's a navy pendant that (as far as i can tell) was given out to crew members of the uss enterprise, uss long beach, and uss baingridge in 1964 after their "around the world cruise". other than that, i know very little about this medallion. any thoughts as to what i should do with it?

also found about two dozen wheat cents (including one 1910), a no-date buffalo nickel, and three silver dimes while wrapping coins that day as well.

Boxes continue to treat me like crap... Yesterday, 2 boxes of halves gave up 1 40%er... broke the streak. 3 boxes of dimes, 4 roosies.

Today, 2 boxes of dimes, 1 skunk, 3 silver in the other, including a '57 Canadian. 2 boxes of nickels, first was a skunk, but I did pull a '61 proof, that's a first... non-modern proof in a roll. the second box gave up 2 wars and an '18 buff.

Picked up $100 in dimes on my way home from work on Friday. Mix of BWR & CWR - 1 x 1964 Roosie in the BWR
Very friendly with them (the branch manager) in there and the only male teller I know asked me why all the dimes. I'm apparently the only one who asks for them. I told him I fill up books for my little daughter. He was like oh, if I ever see anything old I'll save them for you. I've heard that before but never really got anything. He did let me look through his tray, but nothing doing.

Sat morning picked up my box of dimes - 2011P - Drat
Traded those with a BoA down the road and got 1 x 1946 in the first roll, skunk the other 49 rolls, oh well

Cashed in some dimes and halves at a different branch, and the lady commented on how someone would be so happy to buy the $20 in halves. I said I have more if you want to give me wrappers. She gave me a grip of wrappers and I'm going to dump $170 more there. That should make that person real happy...lol
