    I would bet that being coin collectors, we probably receive some of the oddest gifts of any hobby group this time of year..... Ten years ago I received this acrylic block from my daughter and it has sat directly in front of me on my desk at work ever since. I smile and think of my baby girl every time I see it..... We all know our loved ones mean the best, but we do receive some interesting stuff this time of year.... Please post your favorite numismatic gift oddities.

    My grandparents had the very same Lucite coin block but with 64' coins in it. Apparently they purchased it around 64'ish because the silver coins were going to be made differently starting in 65'. It's one of the things I got before all my aunts & uncles held the public real estate auction and sold completely everything right after they passed.

    A thoughtful gift, Randy. Especially so that it brings good memories every time you see it.

    This gift from my brother holds a special place for me as he served in Operation Desert Shield / Storm. I also joined the same branch as him, the United States Marine Corps, during this time period.

    @Randy Abercrombie cute thread.
    And here's my submission....

    I've known this friend for his entire life, but not my entire life since he's a couple of years younger than me. So I've known him for 61 years now.

    A few years ago he sent me these 'coins' from Littleton. They are Kennedy half dollars, only known to be because of the obvious design on the reverse. The obverse has been altered to display some majestic wildlife.

    This person is a cherished friend and these tokens are now cherished in my collection.

    That's a nice vintage Lucite paperweight! I believe @H8_modern has some of this sort of stuff, if I remember correctly.

    Where's the chipmunk coin? If it has that same photo of a chipmunk with its cheeks all pooched out, that's worth the price of admission right there! LOL

    Ahh... cherish it, my friend. Today is the one-year anniversary of my mother's passing. *sigh*

    You know when our loved ones give us these that we are fortunate that they really are thinking of us....... My angelic mother is a dedicated shopper but age and arthritis has pretty much confined her to television shopping. She has blessed me the last four years with a batch of MS70 ASE's.... Note the redwood (what is redwood?) display boxes..... They stay on the top shelf in my office. I love momma.

    I got this coin bank for Christmas in the mid-1970s. Guess the parents figured I’d take a stab at collecting one day.
