I'd bet those sales in the first ad are phony.

Is there any such thing? I thought the San Francisco ASE were no mint.

Shipping guaranteed within 30 days of sale? I'm assuming he means 30 days from the eBay sale (and even if he means the mint sale day), don't see how he's going to make that deadline. The mint site says shipping is expected to begin in late November.

  8. Are there really millions of people that "collect" ASEs as it states in the third listing? This seems like just a lot of hype. The two coins with the true 100K mintage still do not represent a rarity especially when they are released as a collectable with a 100% survival rate. I really hope too many people do not get duped into overpaying on the bay. TC

Not yet but there will be. The S mint bullion coin does not have a mintmark, but the burnished Unc S mint in the 25th anniversary set WILL have an S mintmark.

Aren't it and the reverse proof coin going to be the keys to the set and the year?

Condor101, I'm not sure I understand where this mint mark comes from. Is the US Mint going to offer a special S mintmark coin produced from the San Francisco mint ? If so wouldn't this be an exceptional coin with a limit issue ?????

Looks to me like s/he's counting on buying 10 sets and put 9 up for sale. FVF's are pretty stiff for a $589.89 as each sale has $50 on fee's.

Some folks, prefer to pay the markups since they know that they will be unavailable to order these when they go on sale.

The real question is, when will they be "available". The US Mint will start accepting orders on 10/27.2011 at noon eastern BUT they've only promised the product deliveries in late November. That could pose a problem.

The US Mint also has not established a price (as far as I know) and Silver could run back into the $40-$50 range which would bring the price, IMO, upto around $500 per set. That doesn't leave a huge profit margin.

But.......as was stated, sllers can charge whatever they want and I can almost guarantee that if the bar gets set at $589, It'll stay there until the sets can no longer be sold at that price.

Expect specialty slabbed sets to be above $1,000 each and if there are MS/PR70's, much, much higher.

TC, it's not so much that the survival rate is 100,000 as much as it is what folks "perceive" the set to be.

Perception is what keeps the prices of a Type 2 IKE so high when the reality is that with a little bit of effort, they are quite easy to find. Finding a high grade piece can be a challenge though.

Some of these 25th SAE's are going to milk spot so there WILL be a certain attrition rate for nice looking coins and remember, the 20th Anniversary Sets are STILL commanding a 200% premium over issue price yet there were 250,000 of those.

This may be a stupid question but how do you sell something you don't have and may not be able to get? What are the repercussions if you don't come through?

I would hope not as I would hope that my opinion, regardless of whether it matches someone elses, would be appreciated.

Besides, if I'd received that snotty, flippant response about "read the entire thread" which has absolutley no relationship to the post being responded to since the only place that link occurs is in the response, I might have asked the poster to re-read the thread since it's obvious that some additional "Clarification" was being requested.
