This is from a collection of 1,435 minted, Only 8% 368 were double struck for the bold frosted mint mark-btw, The mint did not produce proofs in 2009. Wondering what this is worth?
Well, there's a few on eBay, here's one of the "368": http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-AMERIC...987?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cfa7c178b I guess we'll now begin (once again) to hear from the D.C. bashers.
Ignorance Mr Carr is a quite talented sculptor, Why anyone would bash him beats me. Ive met him at last years national show and the oct mag of coin world did a article praising his work, Jealousy is a fickle thing. Pleasure talking.
I don't think many people bash on his talent... just what he chooses to do with that talent. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I read that he made over 4000 of these 2009 "proofs" I'm sure you can check the production blogs on his website to get the exact count of coins made. Edited to add: Decided to look it up myself. A total of 4,523 of these "proofs" were made.
But only 368 were the "thick mint mark" variety LOL. Here's another example with some high resolution pics: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-Silver...543?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256878d617
Got it back from Anacs saturday Seems theres been some couterfiet carr coins found in china and canada, Anyhow got a PF-70/ His signature on his own label, an agreement with ANACS. Thanks for the members that took the time to look this up, SO....Being certified of 1 of 368 minted (permanently out of production) and slabbed what might it be worth?
What's the worth? What someone's willing to pay....... That said, I wouldn't pay more than spot. It's a token (silver round) as far as I'm concerned, and wouldn't fit into my ASE collection. Beautiful indeed and I admire Mr. Carrs talents, but not for this collector. And I don't mean to take away from your love and enjoyment of this piece xcable. It's yours to hold and appreciate. I suppose if you were to check completed auctions on e-bay you'd get an idea of what these have sold for.
