Was wondering what a 90 degree rotated reverse 2000-P nickel with a fair amount of nicks and scratches would be worth?
Here's a couple of quick ones, i can get better ones later if you need them. I took out one of the staples and redid it sideways so that you could tell where the top of the coin was on the reverse.
well, it's not PMD, but i'm unsure of the value, for i don't collect mint errors. maybe someone who does can help you. good luck! very nice coin though!
I checked Fred Weinberg's site, and he doesn't have any rotated dies listed for sale. I don't have any idea what it is worth, but it is pretty cool. Chris
Thanks you guys. I looked for a minute before i posted, but didn't see anything right away to get an idea except something on a state quarter page. I just found it like an hour ago lol. I make sure when i look through these coins to flip them a certain way so i can check that, so far this is the only time that's ever paid off.
YMMV, of course. I'm certainly not an expert. But I do know that some error collectors will pay an extra premium for dies that are right at 90 or 180 degrees out of line...so you may be looking at a decent premium. I don't believe anyone'd go $100 or more...but I wouldn't be shocked if you saw offers of $15-$20.
As gboulton stated, a rotated die that dramatic can bring a premium. I have never seen a modern jefferson with a 90 degree rotated die. Very awesome find. It is worth what someone will pay. You may get a few people fighting over it and drive the price right up!
Recently a 2005-p 90 degree rotation was for sale on ebay for $325. It didn't sell though. How's that for not helping you out?
Great catch!! It pays to check all denominations, just not sure how much yet for a Jefferson but still lookin.
Thanks for all of the replies. I was pretty excited to find a wide AM error on one of the cents, even if it was only the 2000 one, i think this one beats it.
It would be interesting to see a heavy die transfer (or "ghosting"), or a die clash on a rotated die.
You can bump the value considerably by listing it on "The Bay" as a 1 of a kind 270* rotated die. LOLOLOL.....J/K, Maybe?
you can do whatever you want as long as you are telling the truth...I have seen far fitched ebay listings so what is one more
That's actually the site i was looking at right before i posted it here, i didn't see it listed there and there were no values, so i had no idea what those on that page were even worth. Would be nice if it was rare. Honestly i have no idea what to do with it now other than stick it in a box and look at it. I've never sold anything on ebay.
It seems that the value is uncertain on this then I take it, somewhere between 15 and 325 dollars is what i'm seeing. Is there a place where I could determine what I have and get a value placed on it? If it isn't listed anywhere, is it possible i have the only one, that's been found anyway? I'm just wondering if one of you had found this, how would you proceed with it?
you could always put it on ebay with like a 500 reserve, on the chance that no one would pay that, but it will give you an idea of what someone might bid on it. thats how i found out that i was only offered 18 dollars for 72 ddo :-( type 2 i believe
I'll probably get it graded and maybe do something like that. If that's the highest it would go I'd probably rather just keep it.
