Those are the exact words I was going to use. I'm going to have to get my Walker album out of the SDB and take some pics. Great thread. Everybody likes Walkers, and there are some really nice ones here. Thanks for sharing. Chuck
I like both coins. Naturally, the 1917 has seen a little more history, and in that condition it is much more difficult to obtain than dates from the '40s, but I also like the brilliant Walker because you can see how the coin looked in all its splendor just after it was released by the Mint
I was going to say that 1940 was given a break in the grading room until I saw that S. And I do preferr the dirty old lady's a little more but will let them all come to the dance. :smile
Pair 17 S Obverse Liberty Walkers - Conservation issues? Don't cry. Hi- back with more Walkers- Here I have a pair of 17 S Obverse with some condition issues as you can see. I would be interested to see what comments anyone may have about the coins and what you may think are appropriate conservation steps. The main issue is obviously the "green" vertigas or whatever- Thanks in advance for your comments and I welcome all and any perspectives as I quest for knowledge. Thanks JS (Sorry the pics could be better- I am still working on that one.) PS: I'm over the crying part so you can skip that." Man I tell you what. The seasoned vets love walking libertys. I think they remember them when they were little, or remember their parents having them. An ole time getleman was looking through my collection and you have seen some of my coins. He pretty much said they all sucked, but when he got to my 50 dollar walking liberty it was +7 positive comments. He couldn't set it down. The nostalgia was taking effect, and sudenly he was 17 years old. Personally I love the design.
