Orrrrrrrrrrrrr not. Still no half dollar today. Called Teletrade (who were really quite helpful) and obtained tracking information. For whatever reason (Nobody's quite sure if it sat around at Teletrade or in the USPS's labyrinth) the Half, despite having been "shipped" on 10/7, didn't make it through the Anaheim Sort facility until last night. So...probably a good 2-3 more days waiting for it.
Don't you hate when that happens? You are super excited about a coin coming, but then the seller delays shipping for whatever reason or it arrives after the expected date, happens all the time to me, I make sure they know about it.
I'm much more inclined to believe that the USPS simply decided to play frisbee with it for a few days.
Oh man have they done that to me before as well... I would like to think they damage it during transit, but I really know they have a giant shredder reserved for my packages which then dumps into a car crusher to be destroyed. I got a package one day that made me burst out laughing when I saw it at my door. A white med. flat rate box with huge holes punched in it with evidence of it having been smashed completely flat on the corners and flattened out again before it was delivered to me. It looked like a pile of ripped up cardboard which the postman left out in the light rain...
You guys are pretty good, it is indeed a 65FB. It's by far the nicest 65 I own, though, I think it's a good candidate for a crack, dip and resubmit. Bet it would go 66+. Most of the OGH 66's I have don't look as nice as this one.
I've gotta remember to take more "shots in the dark". ... Beautiful coin, Merc. Definitely looks clean for a 65. If you didn't ONLY collect OGH Mercury Dimes then I'd say crack, dip, and resubmit. -Brian
Speaking of new acquisitions, I got these yesterday The pics of the '59 and the '69 are partly focused on their holders instead of the coins, I will have to retake them eventually.
I already have a 66 of the same date, so a crack and resub is a very real possibility, especially since PCGS just offered me 5 free submissions due to their screw up with a slab I have and can't add to my registry. Gonna send in my '99 WAM, two of my '72 T2's, and this coin... not sure what else. Proofs are outta my pay range right now... plus, I honestly don't like the look of the proof mercs unless they have some cameo, and cameo's are forking expensive and rare as anything on mercs. Maybe if I win the lottery...
One of my numerous coins I won in auction recently! I have a lot more to post, and it will be obvious of my strong affiliation with Lincoln Cents!
This is one of several toned Cents that I recently won in auction. It is most likely AT, but I liked the colors and couldn't go wrong with the price!
Got this Columbian at a local coin shop this week. The old 2-piece PCGS slab is neat, but the coin looked awesome for an MS62 so I couldn't pass it up. I've looked at probably hundreds of PCGS and NGC slabbed Columbian halves and this one would look ok in an MS64 holder and pretty close to MS65.
The only proof I have was a once in a blue moon find.. tis the only reason I have it.. proof 65 but no cameo..
Update on what I have decided to call "The Wandering Half"... Turns out it was PROCESSED for shipment on the 7th, which resulted in the email being sent that it had shipped. (I'm pretty sure being ready to ship, and being shipped, are two different things...but we'll let that go for now) As it happens, however, since it had only been processed, it wasn't actually picked up until the next mail date... Which was, of course, the 11th. This, of course, means that the half reaching the Anaheim sort facility on the evening of the 11th now makes perfect sense. Why USPS.com says shipping info was received on the 12th is still a complete mystery....but it's only one of several in this case. In any event, if we presume that it was sorted on Tuesday evening, it's probably wandering its way cross country as we speak, and will likely arrive at the nearby sort facility tonight or tomorrow, and then find its way to me the following day. So, at this point, we're going to hope I FINALLY have my wandering half in my grubby paws by Saturday afternoon. Alternately, if there's been no update to tracking status by Monday, I've been invited by the shipping manager to call back, and request that they start further investigation with USPS. While we all expect this will result in not much more info than the tracking page, it will at least document that we acted in a reasonable period of time to try to track the wayward package down. I must say here...at least to this point, I must commend teletrade for their service. They've been easy to reach, and pleasant to deal with. I think, perhaps, further details should have been forthcoming during yesterday's call, but I WAS given the information I requested (a tracking number) at the time...so, all things considered, they're better than most these days. Here's to hoping I finally have a "real" picture to post tomorrow.
My New 1909 V.D.B. I won this one last week at a popular online auction site. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package, as it looks far better than I had expected. It is my new favorite coin for sure!!
