Hello! I have received some comments, and noticed personally, that advertisements are starting to appear in parts of CoinTalk that weren't meant for advertisements. I do believe that I've bent over backwards to freely give members of CoinTalk places to advertise their coin collecting related services, coins for sale, want lists, etc... and while some of you may not like new rules, I believe it is something that needs to be snipped in the bud. Going forward, we will not allow advertisements in Avatars, in your Custom User Title, in your Location, or in any area outside of the designated Advertising Section. The only (qualified) exception to that rule is how you can use your signature. We have allowed, or even encouraged, people to put a link to their own website or their own Ebay auctions in the signature. This will not change. You may still link to a website or page that you own, or that of your employer, or your Ebay auction page. I'd like to mention too, about the signatures, please keep them tasteful. Nobody wants to see garish flashing or bright colors, or sales pitches, or other types of enticements in the signatures. Thanks!
I noticed that I cannot see anyones signatures or even my own for that matter when I am logged in. When I browse the forum wihtout logging in though, I cann see them. Is this how it is supposed to be?
Try going into the advanced section when you post, and check the additional options that says " Show your signature". If that doesn't work, go into your settings and go into general settings and in the area that says Thread Display Options check the box that says Show Signatures. Okay, I was wondering this, if you can put a link to your website in your signature but see now this is OK.
Is this going to help with the recent spamming problem? Although I have to give the mods credit, those threads seem to disappear very quickly.
There are certain sites that tell "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action". Why don't I have permission & how do I get permission? Please use PM ( conversations) as emails are collected for spamming by bots. A reply will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Could you be more specific as to which forums (sites?) you were trying to view, and/or what actions you were trying to complete. Most are available for viewing, except some are restricted for general members. Also for instance, no one can post in the advertising section except the originating poster, all transaction correspondence is by PM ( conversations). PS . I removed your email address as they can result in spamming of your email account. Jim
Thank you for your reply. I deleted the one I was unable to view but the next time it happens I will contact you.
There are certain sections of CoinTalk that regular members cannot see - meaning links to those sections don't even show up on the Index page for regular members. They do however show up for Supporter members, and only Supporters have access to them. It is one of the perks they get for being a Supporter. And if you want to see them - get permission - then you have to become a Supporter. Also, there is a section or sections that only Dealers can see and have access to. And when I say Dealer that's a membership upgrade above Supporters. There are also other sections of CoinTalk that only moderators and administrators can see and have access to, and nobody else can get access to those. So, what you're referring to Thomas is probably one of those sections I described above. There is however another possibility. Sometimes a member will post a link to another post made someplace else on CT. But after that link is posted, for one reason or another, and there are several, the post being referred to by the link is moved by a moderator, or possibly even removed from public view. And if that is done then anybody who clicks on that link, will get a message that they do not have permission to view this.
