Well, to start, do you believe NGC, PCGS, or ANACS would even GRADE this coin? IMO, doesn't look to have any major blemishes holding it back. I'd also like to hear some opinions on the grade; F15 or VF20? It'd also be nice to see if someone pinpoints the Overton (If you're even able to by the poor-quality photos)... Just for fun. Thanks in Advance, Brian
I think this may even be slightly better than VF-20 based on the reverse; obverse looks to lack detail based on strike weakness as opposed to heavy wear. No idea on the Overton variety though.
I thought the same. Reverse looks in the VF25-30 range, but I thought the obverse may hold it back to a VF20... F15 was based on how the cheek is worn down enough to where it is touching Lady Liberty's lips and lower-chin (Typically seen on "Fine" coins). Thanks for the opinion. -Brian
Keep in mind that these earlier ones are struck very differently than the later ones...they can grade AU and only look VF detail in some instances.
I'm not good at grading but I think it a very nice half... unless it is cleaned, I can't see why it wouldn't grade based on those photos....
Took a quick look and it could be O-101 or 101a, but I can't tell from the pics if the die cracks are there and I'm off to work. These are the only two I see that have both Star 13 touching the curl, and the T-I relationship shown. Hopefully someone else will chime in, if not I'll take a better look tonight when I get home.
O-101, cant tell if its got the breaks for the a.. grade.. VF-20.. Nice reverse but the lack on the obv would hold her down.. Yes, I think the TPG's would holder this coin.
