I don't know that I would classify Nadia as a "bimbet" or even a "Lolita" as the photographs of her in the August 2011 Numismatist certainly do not portray that type of individual.

I mean, since we're judging folks based upon internet heresay and all.

Of course all this is still rumor and innuendo at this point.

But as the saying goes...if they're in a position of power and subsequently get rapidly and unceremoniously canned , it's usually the bottle or the zipper that got 'em.

Agreed. That's probably the only fair thing to do at this point since Larry is the only party to come out with their side of the story. The rest is all rumor and innuendo at this time and I think Larry deserves the benefit of the doubt until such time as the other parties speak out themselves, if they ever will.

That said, I'm not going to be one of the haters of the ANA board either. They have a duty to the organization and its members to do what they think is in the best interest of the ANA. Based on their actions, for whatever reason they beleive that it is in the best interest of the ANA to move forward without Larry at this time... and apparently believe that it's also best not to reveal the specific details as to why. I think it's fair to give them some benefit of the doubt too, unless some real evidence of impropriety comes out.

I don't think ruffling feathers typically leads every single member of the board to simultaneously vote to fire someone. It might have a few years ago, but I can't imagine that happening today in the abscence of what the board might consider gross misconduct. Sheppard's obviously well prepared remarks goes a long way to towards obscuring what specific policy decision he made that might have lead to such an all-out revolt from every single member of the board. The ambiguous nature of the discussion by all involved leads me to believe the accusations are probably true.

Sometimes "Boards" can be like sheep......one following the other, led by the Judas goat.

I think this is the voice of reason.
We elect the board to do a job. We have to believe they're doing the right thing. If we don't think so, we have the option of voting them out in the next election.

I find it kind of amusing that the ANA board can't say the "S" word, --almost like the letter can only mean San Francisco and nothing else....lol

It seems to me that since the board is elected by its membership, that they owe those who elected them some reason for their action. I attended the ana worlds fair of money, and the dealers who were there were to a man enthusiastic about the show.

That show had exhibits from the ana, from the smithson museum, and it was very well done.

I have heard of YNs getting scholarships, and recognition for their efforts.

The only thing I can think is that success can sometimes ruffle more feathers than failure.

Quite true indeed. Picked up my copy of the Globe today at the supermarket check out counter. Nothing in there about Larry but there was a piece on the Pope fathering 7 children.......J/K

  13. Anyone get the email with the comments from the ANA?

Yeah. Still in the dark. All I know is they says that Larry started it....

  15. I don't really have an opinion, but it seems the more the ANA skirts the issue the more damage it does to the membership. Just an observation. Mr. Shepherd seems to have a ton of support and they are not willing to accept his termination without explanation.

The more I hear the more I think the ANA is stuck in the sixties. Right around 1863 when the end is was in sight.

Hysterical. Actually, I was thinking they are just a little old-fashioned and want to appear to have a little more class than other organizations that would sling the mud publically. Is Sheppard married? Could be the whole thing is kept kind of quiet for his wife's benefit. In which case I applaud the ANA, provided it was their intention that anyone really wanting to find out what happened could deduce as much by connecting dots with other terminations that were made the same day. Which, afterall, is what we've all done without the ANA having to say a word.

What all of you seem to forget is that in this day and age neither the ANA Board (and its individual members) nor Larry are ever going to say anything unless a lawyer approves their comments first.

Of course that is exactly what leads to all the guess work, innuendo, opinion, speculation and commentary that this thread contains. And just as a heads up, many of you making these comments could be held legally responsible for your comments should someone choose to pursue legal action against you as an individual.

You might want to think a little before typing ;)

I got it and it came from someones gmail account which I found very odd.

I have heard my fair share of rumors on this subject. Putting the pieces together from both sides I have my thoughts on what happened but some of the stuff written in the forums is just amazing.

We could counter-sue based on a frivolous lawsuit against us, breach of contract, etc. as ANA members. I am sure any "offended" salary receiving party signed a contract to hold the ANA and its members harmless in a case like this. A suit against us would be laughed out of court IMO.

This topic is as lousy as ones policing ebay. I'm snoring now. How about we all get posting on threads about coins again. JMO Matt
