These photos do absolutely no justice to this coin; there is plentiful luster and more toning in person. But it is always that way.

    Thanks :)
I got it directly from a proof set. The penny in that proof set was also really nice. I'll try and get a decent picture of that one.

This one isn't a coin, but I think it meets the definition of "pretty" :) It's a German medal that seems to have been toning in its velvet-lined case for most of the past 116 years.

Beer and big guns are also pretty.

These are not coins as such, but rather patterns (2 obverses, one reverse) of sorts that were designed by Ron Landis and coined by the late Joe Rust. One set of these designs came very close to becoming a circulating dollar, but lost out in a squeaker to the Sacagawea designs.

LOL. But seriously, who doesn't love circulated coins? My CBH set is AU, and I don't own a single MS large cent.

Circulated coins are often more beautiful, and varied, than MS/PR. Even a lowly F15 with no color, just genuine, original looks can be beautiful, don't you think?

Lance, This is only graded F-15?

I also really like the circulated look on certain coins. I think the 'circulated cameo' look is very pretty. There is something to say about coins that were actually used and passed through many peoples hands.

Hi gbroke. That Barber half is raw. F15 was my stab. I am usually conservative about grading my own stuff. That way I'm not disappointed when I hear from PCGS. LOL.

Do you think VF? I thought LIBERTY had to be complete. I'm not a Barber guy, so I'll trust someone who knows the series.

The coin is much more handsome than the pix. It really grabs you. I too love circulated cameos and original appearance.
    Lance.

  20. Technically basing the entire grade off of LIBERTY, you are correct. But the overall detail of the coin looks more VF20ish to me. I like the piece and if you ever want to sell it, let me know. :D
