I have an 1923 American Peace Dollar and not sure if it is worth grading. I did some research and found out the coins minted in San Fransico are the same price as the others until you get into the higher grades. Would like to know if this coin is of a higher grade. Thanks to anyone that can help.
I'm seeing XF at best with those images. That would not make it worth getting graded as I was able to get a AU58 for about $28.00 awhile back.
This coin is worth melt , The feathers look all worn down ,The hair looks better than the feathers but thats not saying much . As a colector I would not want to colect that coin in that grade . S is a better mint mark for a 1923, the D is a good mint mark for a 1923 also .
Unless you try to sell it on eBay, where the lowest BIN's are about $13 OVER melt: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Dollars-/11975/i.html?_nkw=1923-s dollar&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1&_catref=1&_dmpt=Coins_US_Individual&_fln=1&_sc=1&_sop=15&_sticky=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283
Thinking that your going to get something for wholesale just because it is listed on eBay will not work. BIN's cost the seller about 12% in final value and PayPal fees and then he also has to pay shipping. Why should they even list it if they can sell it for melt at the local store or make money by just letting it set. Of course the letting it set has lost a bunch lately.
Yeaher, $13 over melt to cover eBay fees no doubt. However, those are asking prices in that link. I checked the Completed Listings filter, and the lowest that sold was for $24 and the highest was $35, melt right now is $23.69 and thats only an $11 over melt on the ones that sold for $35.
True... the total cost of the insertion fee, final value fee and PayPal fee on a $35 BIN is $5.67. Add in the cost of shipping with insurance and delivery confirmation (both required for seller protection) and you're close to $8.00. So you need to sell a "junk" silver dollar at $32 minimum just to be near melt. Hardly worth the effort.
I will give you 1$ for a S Here we go ,this coin is a "P" not a S .right now its at $35 + with 45 mins to go ,I would not buy it but somebody else would I guess? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1923-SILVER...65?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item415debeef9
I usually don't make comments on my own, old posts, but I had to reply to this. So what is it your trying to say? That the coin you copied and pasted off ebay is the same coin I have? And that my coin does not have an "S" mint mark but a "P" mark instead? The facts are, the coin you posted is from someone in Parkersburg, WV. I live in Canada and the coin I posted is here in my closet, not on ebay. My coin also has an "S" mark and not a "P" mark as you state. The coin is in front of me not you, so I should know, not you. I don't mind you running down my coin, as you did in your above post, although I don't think anyone cares that it doesn't fit into your collection. I posted my coin to get an honest grade from collectors who know, which I did and thankful for, not stupid comments like yours. As for your $1.00 offer and bad spelling, they speak for themselves.
The point is in this ebay auction is the real value of your coin .I would say this coin is about VF like yours is but its a P so if you take the $38 and add $1 for the s you get $39 and that is what your coin is worth .Its worth what someone is willing to pay for it . I would not pay $39 for it but someone else would .To me your coin is worth melt . As to your mean comments I will say its to bad you made them .
