Yes but Berk had already made a serious move when it hired Mike Printz. Mike and Larry Shepherd are friends and the Berk press release made clear that Larry and Mike were looking forward to working together.

As an ANA member, I would like to know more of the reasons about what occurred but maybe it's for the best that it be kept private. I was at ANA Chicago and saw Larry doing a lot of meeting and greeting -- there's little doubt the guy worked hard for the ANA and certainly many things had been turned around under his guidance. But without the facts, we have no way of knowing if the Board acted appropriately.

All this takes is a little old-fashioned investigating.

Early reports noted that "more than one" ANA employee was put on leave.

There were TWO people removed from the ANA employee listing (on their website).

The other person was Nadia Moskver, a person hired by, and working directly under, Larry Shepherd.

She was the "Special Projects Manager".

Google her and you will know more than you wanted to know.

That's quite a first post you have made, and very illuminating. Thanks for taking the time to register and post it.

I think it's just salacious sensationalism......

First poster "you know what" stirrer.

That's what I first said when they caught Elliott Spitzer with a hooker. In any case, the Google search pretty much blows the story wide-open just as the poster suggested it would. To be certain it doesn't answer all the details, but enough to suggest that financial impropreity had nothing to do with his dismisal.

If this be true, I guess some folks just can't keep the snake in the cage.......

I hadn't posted that earlier but that was the explanation, his affair with her, that I was told back when Larry was first put on leave. I was told at the time that there was additional problems because she was using her relationship with the boss to intimidate or harass other employees as well.

Like one of the women out of a James Bond movie, -I presume she's Russian given her name.

My favorite Bond girl being Xenia Onatopp from the movie Golden Eye, who would seduce her victims then strangle them with her legs in a scissor hold. Poor Larry, no wonder he looks a little ragged and worn out! Of course I doubt the female membership of this forum sees it quite that way.

    Case Closed.

And he would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those kids and this 1 time poster.

    To THE GOOGLE!!

I met her in Chicago at the money fair. She is only 22 years old. Way to go Larry or does this girl need some counseling? She must have really needed the money...

  13. There is a lot of people questioning what had happened over at CU forums...I don't have the guts to post this over there. That, and I have no idea if the accusations are true or not.

I suppose it would be a quick way to become persona non grata over there.

There was an article in this weeks Coin World about the situation between Mr. Shepherd and the ANA but no new details surfaced regarding his getting the boot. His statement on page 5 of the publication is a trifle more revealing. In it, Mr. Shepherd outlines his accomplishments, successes, innovative efforts and contributions he has made to the ANA in the last 3+ years. There is no doubt (in my mind) that Larry has had a very positive influence on the hobby as well as turning the ANA around (and making it a sound run organization) during those so called dark years. Remember those? He goes on to state.....

"I realize that many people are resistant to or fearful of change, but with an aging and dwindling membership base we could not (and can not, going forward) afford to keep our head in the sand. I knew that my forward thinking policies and efforts to force the existing staff and the Board to deal with uncomfortable strategic issues might create some [dissension] and/or enemies, but I did what I thought was best for the long term-benefit of the entire ANA community, not just the vocal minority."

Any time you make changes you run the risk of ruffling "feathers" and egos. I'm beginning to think that's more the case in regard to Larry's getting the boot, and not so much to some personal issues that were used against him to muscle him out the door. I for one, wish him well in his future endeavors and thank him for his service to the coin collector community.

Whatever the cause turns out to be, let's hope the ANA wises up and hires more low-risk individuals who fit the proper profile of this hobby: nerdy people, who love poring over statistics and debating erudite issues to a fare-thee-well. People with real credentials, and ethically squeaky clean. Helpful people who will promptly return phone calls. Ungreedy people, who are just thrilled to be living in a beautiful city like Colorado Springs. Let's hope HR does its job right next time.

I've done just a little research on this and find it very difficult to believe any of these supposed allegations.
Remember folks, whomever posted that info on Nadia is simply a faceless electronic personna which could be anybody with the goal of planting the seed of indisgression and judging from the comments made here so far, it appears to have worked.

A lot of folks, based upon this bogus electronic data, have tried and convicted Larry and Nadia without of shred of solid evidence.

Personally, I'll take Larry's statement at face value which to me says, he did nothing that could be contrued as actionable. This includes ilicit affairs with ANA employee's.

I'm also of the opinion that the ANA is treading on some very thin ice with regard to this entire situation as it's response has done nothing other than fuel innuendo.

If it is true that a weasily strumpet played Larry for a fool, that would surely be a cautionary tale. I have seen many work situations where a bimbet does that very thing. And it is always the man who becomes the fall guy not the Lolita who has taken advantage. Why do rules against sexual harassment never punish the female transgressor? Surely there are just as many girls and women at fault as men... Mark Everson, the former commissioner at the IRS was ousted from the American Red Cross chairman position accused of a sexual transgression.
