Never expected to win both. Only needed one, but I figured I'd get outbid on one of 'em so I bid on both.

Just bought this Texas Commemorative that was sold by B. Max Mehl (a pioneer of modern U.S. numismatics) probably sometime in the 1940's or 1950's. It's no wonder this coin toned so intensely being stored in a paper envelope for half a century by the collector that bought it from Mehl.

If you are wondering who the heck is B. Max Mehl. There is a short bio of him here: http://www.cointalk.com/t192747/. I think he is the primary reason there are so many coin collectors today -- he really popularized the hobby.

I like the Pilgrims. Beautiful coins. Here's a raw one I picked up. Looks like leather pouch toning. I'm not going to have it graded. I like it just the way it is.

:) Thanks for the nice words, green18! But I think there are some better photographers I can learn a lot from.

To keep this topical here's an IHC that arrived in the mail today.

I saw this coin on eBay a couple of days ago. I was interested in it myself. The toning is gorgeous and the price was very reasonable. Nice to see that someoen from CoinTalk got it. :)

    1902-S Morgan Dollar

Picked up this key date Morgan today. Obverse appears as AU grade but not sure by image if it will rate AU or XF with condition of the breast on reverse.

    Any thoughts?
