I liked Larry and hope he does fine out there.
And I hope the reason is not a "bad" thing but time will tell.

    I hate bollocks like:

"In response to another comment Mr. Lyon continued,“I would love to provide you more details, but because of legal reasons, I cannot. The Board felt that there was significant reason to take this action but details cannot be shared"

basically bowing down to the legal "system". I wish someone would just stand up and tell it like it is!! Lawyers be damned! If I knew, I'd tell and say to them "So sue me, idiots!".

Well considering that they normally already have the lawyers on staff that would happen most likely. There are reasons some people never end up in management positions too.

WAG,I'd put my money on that some clubs complained that they had to pay for their tables, would be the reason behind it all

That would be a pretty weak reason to remove someone from office on the board. It is also not a reason to refer for legal assistance.

I agree...very weak. Especially given the success Larry has had turning the ANA finances around.

It is apparently a "personnel" matter being handled by an HR company.

I do not know Larry personally but from everything I've read he seems like a pretty upstanding guy. I hope this doesn't get any more ugly than it already is.

i totally agree weak but we don't know all the facts and IMO if Hallenbeck stated it in his reasoning about rescinding the fee's that Larry implemented, I would have to assume it was one of the major causes.

Someone needs to think before they make posts on the internet.

For those that don't know it yet there is a news release of his taking a position with Hiram J. Beck already.

Wow. That's pretty libelous. I realize you preface it with "while I have no evidence" but that doesn't make it okay to invent a wild scenario that disparages the man.

If I were you I'd edit that post before someone else does a "reply with quote".

What might be interesting about this is a serious move by Berk to enhance his presence beyond Ancients to modern coinage.

Not really, just a lot of idle chatter and gossip surrounding Sheppard's departure from the ANA and the incredible lack of transparency the board has shown in handling the matter. And so naturally people will talk and speculate. But seeing as Larry has landed a job, maybe its time to be a little more patient and wait for a full disclosure from Sheppard regarding the matter. I just find it very troubling that there can an unanimous decision by the board, yet not a word of explanation to the membership. If it was a personal matter that lead to Sheppard's departure and it had absolutley nothing to do with his performance, then the ANA should say so. Otherwise, the implied claim that he was let go for charging a fee to member clubs to set-up at the ANA show is really kind of spurious in my opinion, and can only lead to open speculation about the real reasons for Sheppard's departure in the abscence of transparency from the board.

I quite agree. The new board should be forth coming with their reasons for Mr. Sheppard's being sacked. And an outside Human Resources consulting firm? Sounds like a waste of money to me. Why. Cippoletti yes. Larry? No.........

My guess is that the org ran afoul of eeo quotas, and rather than get hit with a huge fine they will placate the pc establishment. I base that on the references to diversity and community, and the reason it is being kept on the qt is because these type of things tend to be misunderstood by the coin collecting hicks.

Well you might be on to something there. I'm hardly a bleeding liberal, but its hard not to notice the monolithic racial makeup of the board, and no doubt that extends to other areas of the organization as well. It would tend to make the ANA an ideal target for the right lawyer to squeeze.
