What LIVING person would you like to see on a U.S. Coin?

  1. The postal service recently announced that they will now allow living persons to be depicted on postage stamps:

I know many of you want images of liberty and eagles, etc. on U.S. coinage instead of dead presidents. However, if you had to choose, what LIVING person would you like to see on a U.S. Coin? Why? :smile TC

Bob Dylan. Last I heard he's still alive....surprisingly. The voice of a generation, need I say more? Back in the 60s and 70s he really made people think about their lives and where society was/is headed. If any of them were still alive I might pick one of the amazing jazz voices like Lady Ella, or maybe Lena Horne. But Fitzgerald is long gone, and Horne died in 2010. So sad *shakes head*.

I just feel like musical pioneers that really meant something, back in the day, were so valuable to our culture. I really wish we still had music like that (not that I hate all modern music).

I dont know of anyone that I would want to see on a coin. I state this because I don't know of anyone who has tried to dedicate their own lives into making the world a better place.

Steve Jobs for his vision and innovation.
(But I think Katy Perry with a liberty crown would make a nicer looking coin ;) )

None. Every great or rich person has made it on the back and contributions of many. You buy their software, music, sports jerseys, etc. The coin images should represent the whole population. IMO.

We just dont have hero's today like we did 50 years ago. Imagine a Jonas Salk existing today?

I didn't like dead presidents on coins for the same reason I don't like the idea of a living person on a coin. No one person can personify what the country is about. Even our greatest heroes don't convey a portrait as powerful as a representation of Liberty. People, whether dead or alive, are bad choices for monetary portraits.

Grandmaster Ik Jo Kang - my humble Taekwondo teacher who happens to be the first one to ever open a Taekwondo school in the USA and started the first martial arts tournament in the USA. He was going to be in the movie Enter the Dragon in which Bruce Lee played, but he did not speak English well enough, so Bruce Lee took his place. He is a great man, he always teaches us life lessons at the end of every class and he is a 9th degree black belt in the Taekwondo hall of fame. Unfortunately he is so humble he doesn't get the fame he deserves.

Chuck Norris is kind enough to let other people put their faces on coinage. That's the only reason you see other people on them. If you can't see Chuck's image on the Lincoln cent, expect a roundhouse kick to be incoming in 5... 4... 3....

I would vote for lady liberty as well. If the person had to be living, I would say we celebrate our great scientists, authors, poets, etc. I am sick and tired of dead or live politicians. Anything, (besides a lawyer), other than a politician.

Homer J Simpson would be much more representative than a modern politician. The first Barney Fwank $3 bill or "Pelosi Penny" I see will convince me that it's time to move to 100% plastic currency.

Ron Paul gold coins would be somewhat fitting though.
