Hey gang, I have heard from two people who bought my items and they have not received them. How long is a reasonable amount of time to allow for delivery. They were both small items and unfortunately I did not track either one. I know by bad and I may have to pay. How much time is reasonable for the items to reach the buyer? Is there a policy that says you have to track every item? I appreciate it!! :thumb:

Oh boy... it's always worth the little extra for delivery confirmation. Without it, the buyer is in the driver's seat. I don't know if it's eBay's policy, but it is the only protection a seller has. Otherwise, an unscrupulous buyer can cry "non-delivery" and eBay will always side with them. I think delivery confirmation only costs nineteen cents when you print shipping labels through PayPal. Well worth it! Anyway, first class mail shouldn't take much more than a week max anywhere in the U.S.

Only way to play the eBay game you be the loser if your not.

Edit to add that all of the pacages I mailed first class with DC last Monday and Tuesday showed delivered yesterday. Went to CA, HI, MN, OH, FL, VA, and PA from WA.

Am I the only person who thought this was about a notorios chinese counterfeiter named Dang Po?

I don't use DC when mailing coins to people I know well enough to trust, Jesus, Ghandi and Mother Teresa. Other than the above, even low value items are sent DC. The cost is shifted on to the price for everyone else. Delivery confirmation is not a real protection from a determined scammer anyway so don't feel bad. They can still cheat you by claiming the envelope was empty.

If the likes of eBay, PayPal and the credit card companies do not take steps to address the fraud online trading will become as extinct an activity as wig powder manufacturing.

It's a sad reflection on current moral values that it is so neccessary. I am speaking in general terms, your buyers may be genuine - it happens. Some people are just unlucky.

I would tell them that they have to wait 3 weeks before claiming non-delivery by PO. It usually doesn't take that long, but occassionally the PO is poor on delivery. That said, if they claim non-delivery, you can always claim that you mailed it, and you are not responsible for the Post Office. You can try to shift burden to the buyer by his/her not buying additional services from you, but I don't know if ebay will side with you.

Sorry but they won't without the DC number. Been that way since they made it that sellers can't give con artists negitive feedback any more. eBays one way the Buyers way anymore.

One of the many reasons I'm not anxious to get back into selling on eBay....takes a lot of time to list, and get everything kept nice for business record purposes, and also have to worry about how to keep the scammer buyers (wolves) at bay from your merchandise. As well as ebay and paypal taking even more percentages of your money, and therefore your profits from you. California also requires you to collect sales tax and report to them, as well as having a resale license, and I'm unwilling to chance my assets to the state for a pittance I might make if I sell without that. Crazy isn't it?

Yes, I know about DC and I use it all the time except I haven't been using it regularly unless the item was a higher amount because I've had printer issues. I have learned my lesson tho' and I will use it forever more. :D Two more questions:

    1. Do I wait until the buyers file a did not receive item with ebay and then refund? So far they have only emailed me.

    2. If my printer is still out of whack, can I save the label information from ebay and send it to my work computer? The only thing is work has a security system which won't allow ebay access so is there an alternate way to take care of printing a label at work. Anyone ever have to do this?, forgive me but I am basically a computer dunder head. ;)

You can mark the item as shipped in PayPal and input the delivery confirmation label number from the green label from there when you can not print labels because of printer problems. I did that when my last printer died for a week or so till the new one got here. Needles to say in the case you have to take it to the post office for posting and paying the postage required.

Edit to add that if you can not log into the eBay or PayPal web sites at your work there is no way you can print the labels there.

Also I would go ahead and issue the refund now with a note to the seller telling them your sorry that the USPS can not do their job anymore but if it does show please remit payment again PLEASE.
Remenber they still have you over the feedback barrel they can neg you and you just have to grin and bare it..:(

Yeah, I have been taking my stuff directly to the post office and doing the DC that way. It would definitely be alot easier to do it straight from ebay, however that works. With my printer being out of whack it creates problems maximus. That said, I guess I'll have to learn the ropes. :D Also, I think I will include a note for the buyer to remit payment if they get the coin. Of course some people wouldn't send back payment even if they did get the coin, but it's a live and learn world and I've actually been pretty lucky up and to this point. I mean I have over 700 sales and this is my first problem in regards to this issue anyways. :thumb: Lesson well learned, it's costing me right around $50, ouch!! :axemeethead::T$:

Just to note I had one sale go lost even with delivery confirmation for about fifty dollars for about thirty days. I did the refund to the seller after ten days and he paid the second time at thirty days when it showed up. They are not all crooks and mail does get left in empty carts some times. I hope all ends well for you too.

Printers are cheap enough to replace... seems a good cost effective measure versus trying to circumvent work security and possibly getting into trouble there as well...
