NGC edge view slab counterfeit? *pics added*

I figured the title would grab some attention. Anyway, I bought a 2007 John Adams Missing edge lettering presidential dollar graded MS65 from NGC. It is in the new edgeview holder, but the side seems dont have the triangles and the hologram is the old hologram. I searched the web and couldnt find any answers. I doubt its a counterfeit, but all of my other edgeview holders have the triangles and new "spaghetti looking" hologram. In my research I have found examples of the real and fake older holograms, so when I get home Ill look more closely into that... but is it possible to remove a legit hologram from another NGC older slab and place it onto this one? Just curious.

Here are some pics i took yesterday. After careful inspection the hologram is legit, as well as the typing on the front. I dont think its a fake, but maybe its just a transitional slab.

The labeling and hologram look legit to me. When the presidential dollars were released NGC started using the EdgeView for that coin alone, because it was the first US coin in a very long time which had edge lettering. These holders were the standard for all presidential dollars since early 2007. See link here: http://www.ngccoin.com/news/enews/2007/February/article1.asp

The EdgeView holder was released to a larger market in mid-2008, and became essentially the standard a few months later. Some more information is here: http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=1107

As for your hologram, that is the style used until February 2008 when an update was issued described here: http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=979

So, I don't think your slab is a transition piece or anachronistic. It is what most early slabbed presidential dollar coins by NGC will look like. Though, it seems their hologram cutting machine was having some issues cutting a hologram that was well oriented. :)

    All the best,
    -Brandon

The edge view slabs began for just the President dollars in early 2007. The first fake NGC slabs did not appear until August 2007 and they were not of the edgeview slabs. NGC did not announce that there were fake slabs on the market until Jan 2008 and they did not update the slabs until mid February 2008 (I believe this was when the triangles on the edge first appeared.) So most of the John Adams missing edge coins would have already been slabbed in the older shells by that time.

The reverse label is crooked. It might be legit, but that would set off a warning bell or two with me.
