Ok so I am in a little bit of a pickle and need some ideas to get my brain working again. I have $100 to spend, I have already bought a gold Indian, 3 Silver eagles, and a 2011W proof silver eagle. Oh and a 1957 proof set for a Christmas present. I want to spend this last hundred on something silver and round of US denomination. I usually like to get as much as I can with my money but I need to learn to go outside of my comfort zone if I ever want to have something really nice. So let me know what you would do and hey if there is something you may have for sale for around that amount, shoot me a PM.
Hm, you could possibly go to your local coin shop and poke through the junk silver bin. You could get a whole bunch of Roosie dimes and start a set, or pick up some walker halves. You never know what you'll find in that bin.
Good idea but on the roosie's i am alrady roll searching for those but maybe SLQ's and walkers.Thanks. Any other takers.
I guess I am not sure, but could $100 buy you a VF-EF bust half or SL half? I would be tempted to buy VF-EF from something from the 19th century, but that probably shows my bias.
Something low mintage that currently goes for bullion value in mint state. Can't go wrong with such a purchase in the long term.
I would buy a couple of books. Read them, absorb them and then not only will you know what you want next time but you will have a good idea what to pay for it.
Several options, the obvious one would be something in the Morgan or Peace Dollar line. Next, check out the Seated Liberty Half dimes. You can get a majority of the years in Fine grade for about $30 each. Third, there are a bunch of beautiful commemorative coins that can be had for a smidge above melt right now.
Go for a visually-appealing, colorfully-toned, uncirculated PCGS or NGC graded coin. If you hunt well, you can track down coins like these. These are all coins I bought in the $70 to $165 range in the past 3 months on internet auction sites. (I suggest PCGS or NGC graded so you avoid artificially toned coins, which can be hard to detect when buying raw.) $120 $135 $72 $165 $160
got this nice piece a long time ago for 100. id go after a CBH or a lower grade liberty cap/draped bust.
