Here's some new medals I picked up for my collection of exonumia while at the Philly show on Thursday. I think these are great examples of the beautiful workmanship found on many of these coin club issues. At just a few dollars each you can't beat it. Of course the clubs don't benefit when they're resold like this, but I also make a point of buying current medals when I see them advertised, ones that do benefit the clubs. They take in some much needed revenue for their activities, and I get a beautiful medal in return. Everybody wins!

Nice medals! I have a collection of those as well but most of mine were bought from the U.S. Mint. I rarely see them at the shows I go to.

I have lucked out a few times, the dealer that I worked for had no intrest whatsoever in medals (or elongated cents) so I bought everyone that came in the shop, usually really cheap. That was a fast way to build a collection but unfourtunatly a lot of them are in German, as he was german so all the other dealers would always bring him the german stuff. They are still beutiful medals, I just wish I could read them...

You will have to remind me when I get home from Afghanistan.... I don't have pics with me right now but my favorite is a german medal that shows SS troops cutting down christmas trees for the local population. It was made by the bayer corporation and it still has the original box.
