One of my bosses knew somebody who did this with other notes! The guy wallpapered a room!

Funny story, but true! I ask the teller if she had any $50 star notes, and that I will wait. Five or so minutes go by, and she goes 'Ron all of them are star note!' I said WHAAATTTT!!! I looked and she mistaken the star in the design as a star note LOL
I took home the best one they had without the replacement star to add to my collection :(

Great notes Clay & coleguy. Received this today. Graded as a VF30, 65th note of the A-C block, and upper margin tear.

You would be absolutely surprised of what little bank tellers know about currency, new and old stuff. Bring an old note to the bank, I dare you LOL They'll call you nuts when try to tell em it was real currency at one point in history, and that it was actually backed by a real gold & silver.
You'll be kicked to the curb and called conspiracy theorist. You know how many times I get dragged out of the bank every week by my hair yelling; hate the game not the player? j/k lol

haha. It's true though that a lot of tellers either don't care or don't know. Every branch I ever worked at was like wtf is a star note? only 2 people knew and actually saved them when they found them. Also the older stuff they would mutilate because they called it "dirty" money and would say it looked funny so noone would want it haha. Only the red certs would they want to keep because they looked cool.

It is the same way with family when you tell them about star notes. They look at their $50's and say the same thing. Then I have to show them the difference. I did that for my dad and about the same thing happened a few months later and we had to go through the same routine.

well that's where I got a lot of the 1934 20s because they were old and the tellers were going to mutilate them. At least my dad knows about money and can spot some stuff. My mom is clueless though.

Couple new ones... Got a good deal on the 1918 cause of the food stain. Was going to score one in UNC but I start to cringe when they head north of $200.
