I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong... To those whom I doubted their finds, I'm sorry. Although I still believe there are those with, "mines bigger than yours" syndrome... I'm sure many if not most of your stories are true. I will confess I needed a LITTLE proof, so I ordered a few boxes of halves. I'll just say from what I found in the first box makes all the posts much more believable. Even with the current silver climate and all the searchers, it's still there to find...

    Roll on...

Another box of dimes - one 58-D

Can anyone post up difference between dirty silver rims on dimes and dirty clad ones?

    2 boxes of dimes -- 4 roosies, 1 merc

1 box of nickels -- 2 war, 3 buffs (all dateless), 1 proof.

1 roll of quarters to use at car wash for all of our vehicles -- 1 '53 :)

Thanks i was very surprised when I pulled one(let alone 10 more) silver out thinking they where someones dumps because this bank rarely gets halves in. Funny thing is it's the same bank(although a different branch) that I could walk into and get $50 bwr's and pull at least 5 silver everytime. I'm not sure if an account holder is finding all these "old" halves and bringing them in to get counted or what but hey either way I'm not going to complain haha

I also found a double headed 1964 trick coin in the mix too, not sure what it's made of but it's a neat find.

I find it easiest to edge search and just pull out anything that isn't obviously clad. Then I date check the dozen or so I pull out. I've got a little hand magnifier with a light (I have model M-7LB) that makes date checking a cinch.

If it's made the way the high quality one's are, it's the real deal - silver. :)

I have had bad luck finding much of silver in anything lately. It is getting depressing!

'72 T2 - MS62... spotting. If I can get the spots off (Distilled water, acetone, xylene, then a spot dip process...) it's probably a borderline 64.
