Well here are todays finds. I usually don't share all my "daily strap findings" unless they seem significant enough. This one does to me. It is the lowest serial # I now have in my collection. Any idea on value of the $10? $5 is VF and $10 is XF.

NICE low note! I don't know though if it is low enough to be worth anything?

I've been told on numerous occasions that 4 digit serials or lower are collectible. This one is only 3. I don't know if theres anyone out there willing to pay any premiums on it; but I do know its worth more in my eyes :).

All I do is pull 5 big ones out the bank and go through straps of 5's and half straps of 10's. Every other bank I go to I just switch 5's out for 10's and then the 10's out for 5's. In my opinion, 5 and 10's bills are somewhat rarer than other denominations. They also don't cost too much to pull out of the stack where as 20's+ would cost more to save the collectible ones.

most banks around me don't (say they don't) get new straps, though I have seen consecutive notes given to me when there.. They always only seem to have rough looking strapped notes...

With the recent release of the Series 2009 notes (now all denominations except $2 and $100) they should be getting new straps in a regular fassion, unless you live in a particularly isolated town. If you live in a larger town or city, they should be getting plenty of consecutive cash (especially in somewhere like the east coast, where a bunch of FRB's are kind of globbed together). From most tellers I've spoken to, they apparently don't much appreciate the newer cash, because it tends to stick together when counting it, so why would they lie to you? Right now I am having a hard time finding banks that don't have new straps; because my closted FRB (SF) has yet to have any star printings for the newest series so new straps of cash around here are most likely worthless to me.

I've noticed a large amount of SF 09 singles here and I'm on the East Coast.. and very few East Coast 09s...
I'm not saying they are lying as much as they state they don't "order" them..yet I see them come back in change to me.. just seems odd..

Stopping here at different banks for stuff seems to also require accounts just to get something as simple as a few rolls of coins...

I've seen more '09 New York $10's and $20's then I have SF '09 $10 and $20's. With the $5s only the western FRBs have released them.

What is the date of these notes? Newer ones (2009) do not have set prices affiliated with them yet.

    Dr. Kegg,

Here is a copy & paste of one of my previous replies to a thread that should help you out in identifying currency:

It goes like this for $5's-$100's Series 1996 onward:
    First letter of Serial #: 'A' is 1996, 'B' series 1999, 'C' series 2001, 'D' series 2003, 'E' series 2004, 'F' series 2003A, 'G' series 2004A, 'H' series 2006 ($5 & $100 big head non-colorized only), 'I' 2006 (colorized bills), 'J' 2009, and finally 'K' 2006A ($100 only last minute series for big head non colorized $100's).
Second letter of Serial #: 'A' A1 Boston, MA, 'B' B2 New York, NY, 'C' C3 Philadelphia, PA, 'D' D4 Cleveland, OH, 'E' E5 Richmond, VA, 'F' F6 Atlanta, GA, 'G' G7 Chicago, IL, 'H' H8 St. Louis, MO, 'I' I9 Minneapolis, MN (the least common of all currency), 'J' J10 Kansas City, MO, 'K' K11 Dallas, TX, and the final FRB district... 'L' L12 San Francisco, CA.

In addition, you will find an easier way of find the FRB district of a $5 or up by looking directly under the left-uper serial #.

On $1's and $2's, the first letter stands for what the second letter of a $5 or up would stand for.

So, to answer your question: They are Series 2006 :).

Yep, sorry that I didn't take that into aco****. I ususally just look at the series date. I'll let you know value when I get home from work for the star aspect of these notes.
