    Not a roll search but picked up a Great Britain '42 six pence, and 3 Mexican 25 Centavos from '51 and '53 for $2...the sixpence alone is worth about $3 and the 3 centavos are worth about $4 in melt! Not bad for $2!

    The tissue paper is a silver test. I don't know all the ins and outs but if you lay some tissue paper over a silver coin, the diamater of the coin will be extra white and visible through the tissue. Clad coinage will not. Personally I just bounce it off my desk or something, since I do not have a scale. Now, if I came across a 1932-D Washington I sure as **** wouldn't bounce it...

    Weekend Report

    I'm finding it difficult to always report on Fridays, so I'm changing it up to report sometime over the weekend. Thus it's now the "Weekend Report". :)

    BWR H's: 150 rolls -> 10 x 40% H's; 1 x 1964
    Box 1: 7 x 40%; 1 x 1964
    Box 2: skunk
    Box 3: 3 x 40%
    CWR H's: 13 rolls -> skunk
    Loose H's: $51.50 -> skunk
    BWR D's: 85 rolls -> 2 x roosie
    BWR N's: 25 rolls -> skunk

    That last BoA box of H's was nice. Out of two boxes of N's I was able to scrounge up 25 BWR's of non-2011D's, and most of those were still heavy with 2011D's.

    This coming week is gonna be light: Went to pick up a box of H's that I ordered from a different BoA last week, and they told me they sold it to someone else by "mistake"... :mad:, they did sell me a box of N's and I ordered another box of H's, asking that they make sure to not sell it to someone else - we'll see; went to pick up my regular weekly order from my favorite bank and they didn't get their delivery on Friday, so no H's or D's from them this week... :dismay: I did stop by another BoA, picked up a $500 box of D's; the vault was closed, so I couldn't get my regular pickup of N's from them, but I did get them to order me a box of H's. That'll be 2 boxes of BoA H's during the week, my regular 2 boxes H's and box of D's from my favorite bank, plus I will be scrounging up some more N's, and D's, and I need to get a couple boxes P's to get caught up.

    So, slow weekend with just some D's and N's (all old rolls :) )

    Got some pics of my entire "hoard" from day 1; After I do the math on box ratios, I'll get the pic and the numbers posted....

    My Hoard

    Here's a pic of everything I have found in 4-1/2 months searching:

    hoard_09-04-11.jpg
    Frankies on the left - 40% 70's on the right.

    This doesn't include commemoratives, various proofs, NIFC's (except the 2001-D Mint Roll), and what-nots I have found -- just the metals, baby!

    Here's the stats:

    BWR H's:
    1828 rolls = 36.56 boxes
    10 x 90% = 0.273/box
    82 x 40% = 2.242/box

    CWR/LOOSE H's:

    204.55 rolls = 4.091 boxes
    4 x 90% = 0.020/roll (0.978/box)
    39 x 40% = 0.190/roll (9.533/box)

    BWR D's:
    736 rolls = 14.72 boxes
    15 x 90% = 1.019/box
    13 x Roosies = 0.883/box
    2 x Mercs = 0.136/box

    CWR D's:
    235 rolls = 4.70 boxes
    6 x Roosies = 1.277/box

    BWR N's:
    190 rolls = 3.80 boxes
    5 x war = 1.316/box

    BWR/CWR P's:
    698 rolls = 13.96 boxes
    150 x Cu Rolls = 10.745/box
    182 x Wheaties = 13.037/box
    Total = 22.01% Cu P's

    I did two boxes of Dimes today - both Skunk.
    2 boxes of Nickels:

    Box 1: 1 x 1943 War and the typical amount of 40's and 50's.
    Box 2: No War, but 5 Buffalo (4 no date visible, and 1 barely visible 1928)! WOW!

    My silver was light, but the buffalo's made up for it!

    Gotta love finding mini-herds. Wait til you find one of those other V-Nickel boxes... I'm pretty sure that stash got dumped into three boxes, concentrated in mine and the first box, with the third box getting a dribble over, maybe only a couple.

    Waking up an hour early tomorrow to cash in and pick up a couple boxes to go through at work, since TD is only open from 8:30-1, and they're the only bank open.

    WOW!! :eek: I LOVE seeing statistics like that!! THANKS!!

    Since your sample set is either at, near, or close enough to 'statistical significance' I took the liberty of running a few of my own calculations (although I guess I should ask before using someone else's data?... sorry :eek: ).

    First, the obvious stuff:

    You, my friend have sorted 131,701 COINS, man!!! That's freakin' beautiful!
    The face value of those 131k coins you may ask? Why, that would be $25,909.50 of course. :D

    OK, ok, I hear ya, 'but that's just the working capital - it really means nothing - it's just the amount we were fiscally and physically able to juggle around from bank to bank... Whatever.'

    Right. A bunch of coins. A lot of money. I get it. I, however, am of the believe that there is ONLY ONE MEASURE in an enterprise like this. First, you have to disregard ancillary abstractions like numismatics: LET THEM GO. NOW. Don't try to work man hours into it either. The obvious paradox of spending more man hours to calculate man hours is certain to drive you mad. LET IT GO. Want to know the secret?... Here it is...

    IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SILVER. GET AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, AS EASILY AS YOU CAN. FAST.

    YOUR STATISTICS, LOOKED AT ANOTHER WAY, CAN TELL YOU HOW MUCH SILVER AM I GETTING PER $1,000 INVESTMENT??

    Well, this is how your operation is currently running. For every $1,000 put towards each of the following, you have averaged the corresponding OUNCES(T) of silver. Or, how much silver can I expect if I throw $1000 at coarse of action A? Here are the numbers:

    BWR .50 0.8613 <-- so, $1,000 0f BWR half dollar rolls should yield 0.8613 ozT of Silver
    CWR .50 3.5272 <-- and so on...
    BWR .10 0.2949
    CWR .10 0.3694
    BWR .05 0.0740

    My spreadsheets work off of ROI per $1k searched... profit per $1k, if you would, for silver.

    Halves; $41.27
    Quarters; $7.36
    Dimes; $22.69
    Nickels; $27.55

    No problem. You can play with my numbers any time... :D

    However, because I left out Q's - due to total skunkage - some of those numbers are off a bit; check my signature for exact numbers. :)

    Using Merc's ROI/$1k searched method:

    Total H's: $48.59
    *90% H's: $10.72
    *40% H's: $37.87
    90% D's: $13.46
    35% N's: $31.84

    Thanks!

    BTW - what's the best way you've found to store your non-wheat Cu cents? I don't have a good/acceptable way yet. I'm thinking of rolling them, but that's a lot of rolling! Thanks in advance!

    Being a noob, I'm starting to get lost in the acronymns...

    CWR seems pretty standard/consistent (Customer Wrapped Roll), but...

    BWR = Bank Wrapped Roll
    MWR = Machine Wrapped Roll (same as BWR?)
    FWR = Fed Wrapped Roll?

    How can you tell the difference between the three? Thanks in advance.

    I thought of doing this too - and I'll probably add it to my spreadsheet as an extra feature, but since it depends on the spot price of silver, it's only a brief snapshot in time. And as the dollar heads down the next abyss, that number will change rapidly (in your favor though!).

    BWR = MWR = FWR

    Fed wrapped roll is a misnomer. From my research the Federal Reserve banks do not wrap coins. My understanding (and someone correct me if I am wrong) of the circulation chain is that the US Mints manufacture the coins; these are sent in large bags to the Federal Reserve banks. The Fed banks take orders for bags from armored car services (e.g. Brinks, Garda, Loomis, etc.) who do the actual counting and wrapping; the armored car services take orders from banks and deliver coins. Banks, in turn, circulate the coins into the hands of businesses and consumers.

    As coins come back to the banks, every once in a while (I don't know the frequency) banks bag the coins and return them to the armored services. They count and wrap the coins to return to banks. Again, every once in a while (I don't know the frequency), the armored services bag the coins and return them to the Fed banks for inspection, where they pull damaged, worn, and foreign coins out. The Fed banks will deliver circulated coins before they deliver the newly minted coins to the armored services. The circulated coins are bagged, and delivered back to the armored services when they order more coins, which are then counted and wrapped.

    Again, it's kinda hard to find all this info, and I pieced it together from various sources, so I may have made some errors. If someone knows anything I got wrong, or left out, please let me know. I am going to look for some of the sources I used for this info and will post them a bit later; there was a really interesting story of how the armored services came to be, as a result of the Fed banks not counting/wrapping coins themselves.

    You are correct, I work at a bank and we use Brinks. I have found that your best chance of finding silver is from rolls brought in by customers. Banks have a guideline on how much money of each denomination should be kept in the vault. Once a week when shipment comes in if their is an abundance of one denomination then it is sent out.

    Hmm Well I was getting Yellow and white rolls and they were delevered to my CU by Loomis, Now the bank said we switched to the fed for money and delevery. And the rolls are a brownish and white.

    Hmmm could be something different in your area but I know all banks here in my area use Brinks. You can tell when the new cash is from the feds because its brand new money but still goes to Brinks before us. Same with the new rolls of coins, they go to a third party delivery company first.
